*Future brown class of 2010*

I noticed that other schools’ forums had threads for high school juniors, and i couldn’t find one on brown’s, so here it is. So, all of you high school juniors, isn’t brown great? How competitive do you think admissions will be for us? every one says the class of 2006 is bigger and has a higher percentage of overachievers, that really sucks. oh well, if we all get rejected, at least we’ll have happy memories of the high school juniors forum on collegeconfidential.com, yeah, so some one reply so I don’t feel like an idiot and have to get a new user name to avoid the embarrassment.

(Good luck with your mid-terms by the way)

I'm not a junior, but if it makes you feel better, the junior class at my school is even less motivated than my own. So no competition there.

If I had found this board while I was a junior, I'd probably have freaked out a whole lot more about college apps.

Wow! Sure getting started early there.
Good luck to you, although I think I need it more right now. :)

Really? This year's junior class is the most competitive? In my high school, the juniors are kind of dumb ... all they do is cheat ... and get caught ... and cheat again. There is this whole theory at my high school that the rotating pattern for classes is smart, dumb, smart, dumb, etc ... it's pretty true, seniors=smart (or better than the juniors) juniors =dumb, etc. last year's graduating class wasn't all that hot either. Good luck! I wish I would have known about collegeconfidential.com earlier, I'd waste all my time here too. lol

haha, maybe it's just my school, but my class is the first class to actually care about college admissions and actually try to get into places other than state colleges, it must not be like that at every other school. there was a big discussion about this on the PSAT discussion, how the juniors are the overachievers and all, i'd put a link here right now but i'm too lazy. This is irrelevant, but zantedeschia, I just noticed that you have like 4,000 posts, wow, that's quite a feat! I bet you have the most on this website. okay, yeah back to what I was talking about, what's the general consensus about juniors at everyone else's schools?

My school's junior class will really be either really good or awful. There isn't gonna be much in between. Pretty much half the class already has above a 1400 on the old SATs and the other half are rich enough to buy crazy prep tutors and stuff. I could definitely see it being much more competitive than this year was for the graduating class of 2005.

My schools junior class is smart but not very motivated.....everyone has a 1300 or higher on the old SAT but no1 does anything extrracurricular.....just my 2 cents

Yeah future brownies! Of course I'm quite possibly the dumbest person on cc and the only thing I've got going for me is my urm status. Brown is probably the only ivy I'm applying to, possibly the only private school at all. So as you can see Brown is very special in my eyes. I wish I could apply ED, if onlly it wasn't so expensive

Wooo, Brown! I'll be visiting Brown during my spring break...I'm quite excited.

Does applying ED to Brown (I'm a junior) give you a lot better chance of admission? I heard somewhere that ED admission is like 29%. Is that accurate?

For this year I think it was 28 or 29%. I wouldn't say it's a lot better. I mean, figure most of the athletes are in that number and probably a lot of legacies too. It does show commitment though, and that's always good.

Yeah high school juniors! All my friends think I'm crazy for being so interested in college right now, all I do is look at websites and dream. Haha. I'm really interested in Brown but I'm pretty sure I want to go to school for communications and/or drama. But I want the traditional college experience. Ahh, the choices!

woo get excited! It's so exciting to think, wow that could be US next year. No matter where I end up attending, a left-handed club will be established! raise it up lefties!

Haha my only problem would be that I'm sort of a conservative looking at a pretty leftie school, Brown, right? But still I'm really open minded so ah who cares.

I am so LIBERAL! people just randomly ask me, hey are you a liberal, you seem really left wing? And I'm like HECK YEAH!

Brown's awesome!

:D My mom's always like, "Why are you spending so much time at this stupid forum? Go study for the SAT or something."

I LOVE BROWN....oh sorry, I had to say that. :-)

I'm a Junior.

Ha, this is awesome. When I was a junior I never said I loved anyplace, because I was wary of getting too attached.

love is a strong word, and I'm a bit wary of saying I Love brown. I really like it a lot, but I want to keep my options open for a while before I pick one that is my ultimate first choice.
