Future NYU (Stern) Transfer

Student accepted into NYU, more specially Stern, please help!!!

Hi, I am still a high school student and due to my lack of care towards educating myself in high school I ended up with a 3.0 GPA and wasn't able to break 1800 SAT by the time I applied to university. In a short period of time after realizing I destroyed my chances of going to my dream college my freshman year, I picked up mainly in math and reading as well as improved my overall education. I retook my SAT and scored in the low 2000 range. Due to this lack of care in my high school years I had to settle to a different university than NYU.

Question: If I keep up with studying once I begin attending university and study hard, keep that 2030 (maybe try once more to get higher), get involved in university life (activities, sports, events), and do community service are my chances really good or okay at transferring into NYU, more specially Stern, for my sophomore year?
I know that what I wrote sounds good and will be hard to achieve but I have gotten pretty far in a short period of time and I am up for the challenge.
Basically what I really want to know: Is getting into NYU as a transfer student predictable based on stats and involvement in community?

hello, i have the exact same story, i was an ib student in high school and had a 3.2 wtd 2.7 unwtd. I actually go to a community college, and have done pretty well my first year there, with numerous extra’s. i will be applying to stern this next year so early in 2012.

its definitely possible if you put the work in, but I would advise that you transfer in as a junior because your hihg school won’t matter as much, the biggest thing you ought to do as well is fulfill their requirements, and making sure that you write stellar essays when you apply. Part of getting into stern is also simply luck, and whether the admissions committee likes you.

hope this helps
