Ga Tech Transfer

Hey guys, i was wondering, what colleges do you recommend me transferring to. what colleges do you think i can get into? i have a 3.82 after my freshmen year at ga tech and i still want to pursue engineering

Why? The only universities ahead of GT in engineering are MIT, Stanford, and UCB. And, chances of getting into those schools by transfer are slim to none.

I'm an engineering+math student with a 3.82 planning on transferring. I'm applying to stanford, duke, harvard and upenn. With the exception of stanford, the schools i'm appying to have weaker engineering programs than the school i'm currently in. But i gotta think about MATh as well and i know harvard and duke have really good math programs. Penn is at the bottom of my list. So it really depends on what kind of school you're looking for. Are you looking for ivy's? Or shools with 'better' engr. programs than ga tech(and i know ga tech is TOP NOTCH when it comes to engineering)?

Well, he still wants to pursue engineering. He's already at a great engineering school, and the ones above GT are all extremely difficult to get into, especially as a transfer. I'm not exactly sure why he would want to try to transfer when there's not too much difference in curriculum, prestige, quality, pay and job placement, and attractiveness of the degree.

On one hand, Stanford probably would look good to jobs not related to engineering as would MIT. On the other, employers look highly on the GT and UCB degrees. One big difference in all three is cost-- Stanford at 45K, MIT at 42K, UCB at 30K for OOS TUITION and 7K instate, while GT is at 4.6K in-state and 19K OOS. Still, GT would be more affordable.

So, OP, why exactly do you want to transfer?

I completely agree with you but we still dont know WHY he wants to transfer so lets just wait.

Yeah, I know. It may be something completely unrelated to any of that. Maybe he doesn't like the weather, rigor, the overall feel, or something of that nature. Or, maybe he wants a bit more diversity in class selection.

I'll just shut up and wait, hehe.

I know why he wants to transfer, cuz Atlanta is a dump =P

(I kid I kid)

gatechboi, I'm still curious as to your reasons to want to transfer.
