I was wondering since the school is on the rose hill campus, it is completely separate from the rest of the rosehill campus, or is it still intermingled with the campus? will i most likely just have friends at the Gabelli school or will i still be involved in the whole social life at rosehill? thanks.

I visited the campus a few weeks ago. The Gabelli school is not separated or secluded. Also, as a freshman, you take a broad range of core curriculum, so you’re not with the same business people all the time.

My S is a junior at the Gabelli School. The business school students are in no way separated from the rest of the RH students. As Exec09 mentioned, all of the core classes are taken with other RH students. You will join clubs/activities with other RH students. Gabelli students live in dorms with other RH students. In my son’s current suite of 6, only two (including my S) are in Gabelli and the other 4 have various other majors in RH. In fact, a big reason why my S chose Fordham over Bentley (another of his top choices, which is pretty much a university for business majors) is that he decided he’d rather be in an environment where he could have friends with many different interests. I’ve met friends he has at Fordham who have majors as varied as psychology, theology, Spanish, communications, English, pre-med etc. Over the last two years you will have more business classes, but that increased specialization will happen in every major. But by that point you will already have friends and be involved in activities with lots of different people with lots of different majors.

thanks. this is very helpful. much appreciated!

I’m a Gabelli sophomore student and I feel very much part of the entire Rose Hill community. In fact, both my roommates are from the liberal arts school. As some have mentioned, taking core classes means that you will be able to mix around with everyone. I’ve never been to a party where the first question people asked were ‘which school are you from?’. Nobody really bothers if you are a business student or a liberal arts major. We’re just we big Fordham community.
