Gallatine or Steinhardt....

Hello! So, I really would love to apply to Gallatine (such an awesome program..love it..), but I feel that my stats aren't strong enough. SAT- within the middle 50 % range; GPA- 3.6ish w i think; Class rank 12-13%; Great recs and essay; Ok ec. Sorry, I know it's not specific, but I'm not looking for chances. Basically, Gallatine would definitely allow me to study this very gallantine-like major that I want to do (unique and thus requires several classes in different fields--sorry for not sharing). However, if Gallatine is difficult for me to get in, I might actually want to apply to Steinhardt because it does have a major that is close to what I intend to study, and I heard that its acceptance rate is a little bit higher than other schools (and of course, both are equally great schools--I just think that Gallatine would be more of a "fit" for me). If such a major would not be satisfactory (in Steinhardt), then I might do an internal transfer. But, still, I really really want to go to NYU. What would you suggest? Apply to Gallatine or Stainhardt?

Also..I'm Asian..I found out that the percentage of Asian population in Steihardt is 14 %, but do you know that of Gallatine? Higher or Lower? I couldn't find it.

Please reply..Thank you!!

Please someone...HELPPP x(

There is no way for anyone to look at your post and be able to answer your question without you going into what you want to study. Personally, I hate Steinhardt. I started there. But I had several professors tell me not to internally transfer to Gallatin and to try and mold my own interests out of double majors/minors in CAS. I ended up going to CAS and being happy with my academics but ultimately leaving NYU after a year.

And third, it doesn't matter "asian" populations. The school is very much integrated.. on a social level, it doesn't matter what school someone's in. Stereotypically.. lot's of Asians in Stern, were quite a few in GSP and Steinhardt. There is no shortage of Asians at NYU if you are looking for a sense of community; your halls are all intermixed between schools so it's really not a problem.
