Game theory! Help me strategize? :)

I really want to take Econ C110 (Game Theory in the Social Sciences) but I don't know if I should drop another class in order to get into it Phase I.

Right now for Econ C110:
101 student(s) are enrolled, with a limit of 135 and 39 student(s) are on the waiting list, with a limit of 50.

They're only letting declared Econ majors in right now. I'm not sure if I fall into this category on Telebears though because I wasn't officially declared till a few weeks ago and I didn't need an adviser code this semester. Will Telebears let me into the class because I'm declared on Bearfacts now?

And would it make a difference at all if I signed up for it through Poli Sci C135 instead? It would count as an Econ Upper Div right? It's filling up slower but will probably also be full by Phase 2.

I want to do the switch during open hours tonight and would really appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks!

Poli Sci C135 Section 1 is the associated class, but it only accepts PoliSci majors.

Log onto Telebears and look at your student profile. It will list either Undeclared or Economics - the latter status matches the rules permitting you to register in the open slots for Economics major.

I was expecting this thread to be about how to game the system to get into a class on gaming theory. Something along the lines of declaring a major simply to qualify for telebears enrollment rules, then changing to the major you really intended. While this thread didn’t live up to the promise of the title, good luck with the switch into the class.

Thanks! and yes it says I’m declared on Telebears now :)

And I was going to make a more detailed post about how I thought the spots that were empty right now wouldn’t get filled up till Phase 2 because all the declared Econ majors had their Telebears already and everyone else would have to get on the waitlist anyway… And I have an early Telebears time so I might as well wait? And since I’m declared it’ll let me in over everyone else even in Phase 2 right?

But all of that seems too risky if getting into the class through PoliSci isn’t a possibility either…

bump, should I switch it or should I not switch it =/

and…telebears is down right now?

Damnit, I was going to pick up Game Theory Phase II. I’m also undeclared, planning to declare Econ in the Fall.

Sounds like you should go for it. What class will you drop for it?

I did it already, dropped Econometrics (Econ140). I know I have to take it eventually but I have 3 more semesters and game theory sounds x100 more interesting haha.

Wish I had done it earlier and gotten a better section time though.
