Backpack and camp my way across Europe, go work on someone farm in a foreign country through WWOOF, hike the Appalachian trail, work as a ski instructor in Colorado, take the Trans-Siberian railroad from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg, go on a mission trip, backpack through NZ/Australia/SE Asia, join a shipping company and work my way around the world, join the army (may be a bit difficult for just one year but I’d do it for a few years and maybe get some scholarship for college), go abroad to Europe and join a lab to do some research, backpack across Latin/S. America, take a summer kayaking trip through Minnesota, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, run a marathon, start a company, take up computer programming, join the Israel Defense Force and learn some Hebrew (and because those guys are badass), get a pilot’s license, learn horseback riding, move to a foreign country as an au pair.

Some of the things I would consider doing. Don’t know what your financial constraints or interests are.
