Pretty minor question, but is “Gross Annual Income” the same as Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on the IRS form? Because all of my family’s income comes from my mom basically, since my dad owns his own business and claims significant losses on his tax returns, and my AGI is a whole lot lower than my mom’s income. Just wondering which I should put?

Gross income is without any kind of deductions. If it had deductions, it would be your Adjusted Gross income, and not your gross income. Your gross income is greater than your agi (my family’s agi is ~.6k, but my family’s gross annual income is ~8k)

does anyone know if we get to meet Bill Gates himself, that is if we do get the scholarship?

Sam12241992! I’m a fellow HOYA 2015! Where are you from?

thatelephantt: I’m from Los Angeles, CA. Yay another Georgetown person. I still don’t know if I’ll end up going there but I’m happy I got in. Funny story, yesterday the admissions ppl hosted a meet and greet for accepted students in LA but I couldn’t go because I was working on the GMS application…kinda ironic
random question: GMS is not restrictive right? I can continue to apply to other scholarships right?

Yea, of course. But you might not get some scholarships if you have already won GMS. If you win scholarships before GMS, then GMS will pay the remaining.

Hey you guys, REALLY important question:
Under leadership, if you are currently still doing an activity what “end” date did you put? Did you put when you plan to stop, or did you put todays date, etc? It doesn’t just let you pick “presently”

Responses would be appreciated.

Im not sure if someone already asked this, but when it says subjects for question 1 and 2 she we talk about academic or can we talk about any issue we have excelled or struggled in?

SKHaer-I just put when I plan to stop, aka graduation, and such
JSea, I think they mean academic subjects, even though they don’t specify
Almost last day stress!!! D: D: D:

guys, my recommender still hasnt turns in her part yet…i think shes planning on doing it tom. do u think the sites gonna crash tom???

there’s no way to predict that…
My recommenders have to mail them in tomorrow.

so if the site crashed tomorrow (hopefully not), i should tell my recommender to mail it in and it’ll still count??

One more essay to go! I can’t believe I’m having writers block. I’m on essay number 7 right now. Is anyone else struggling with their essays?

I had a difficult time writing the first essay! It was almost impossible to write, it seems.

Can please someone tell me whens the exact deadline? Because someone told me it was due today (Sunday) until 11:59. I thought we still had Monday to work on them?

It’s due on January 10th (monday) at 11:59 Eastern time.

aziangirl: My teacher still hasn’t put in the nominator application…I’m calling him right now. The site will crash tomorrow, happens every year(this is when everybody decides to put apps in) so good luck!!!

and yeah, I believe that as long as you postmark it by deadline, You are safe. Id call GMS to verify if i was you though.

im struggling as well. with question 3 though, i can’t think of a single unfair situation -__-
but im fairly confident in my other essays so i feel okay kinda blowing this one off till now.
all nighter here I come =/

Wow. I’m joining this discussion on the second to the last day the GMS is due. By the way, did anyone else’s application say something about making sure your nominator and recommender has your correct registration number? It said it on my application in red letters even though it shows that both were already submitted.

Yea my said that and they both submitted theirs.

For essay number 7 how many areas are we suppose to talk about? I was just going to talk about playing the piano but should I chose another area that I have gain knowledge in?
