Gates Millenium Scholarship 2011-2012

i hope i win so that next year I can help out the people applying lol secretly, i’ve enjoyed this process. i love having a portfolio of awesome essays :)

hey did anyone get an email notification yet that the submission was successful?

collegefreak34: I think if you look back a few pages on this thread your question was answered already…but IF you become a finalist then you mail them a copy of your SAR

Mentos: It just tells you you’re still in the running and asks you to send in your SAR, an acceptance letter from a university, a high school profile, a high school transcript, and UW GPA form.

imagine18: Yes. midnight eastern time means 9:00PM pacific time.

skaher: haha I agree, the feeling of accomplishment is kinda nice. Like “wow I actually did it” (in my experience that’s how it felt anyway).

dontforget17: the GMS application is indepentdent from that. If you wanted the APIASF and GMS you would need to complete both(seperately) your website most-likely linked both applications together. But If you followed all GMS steps correctly, and submitted all 3 forms, you are perfectly fine.(Bad wording on website) And hey, GMS pays for ALL unmet need so you dont even NEED APIASF. you good…

thats exactly the feeling im experiencing! lol i thought i’d be more relieved but im not…i just feel like this huge headache i’ve had for 2 weeks is lifting though which is nice!
yay for more than 4 hours of sleep tonight!!

At least I still have my 8 essays! :D

Congratulations to everyone who finished this grueling application process and I wish you guys the best of luck.

do you guys know if we made little grammar mistakes or forget the word “the” will it ruin our chances of getting the scholarship?

metalfox: I did

imagine18: 5 grammar mistakes before they start caring, 1 comma splice before they start caring…

Thank you Loco.
So Relieved that I am free from writing essays…

idaisyi: good luck to you too

Haha…me too…now I can actually begin to focus on school.

By the way, this is how I kno there is a God: My nominator form is actually confirmed 1 minute before deadline XD

Okay, my recommender didn’t comment on two questions and my first essay is crap. It’s safe to assume that I won’t be winning anything. I think I’ll go cry now. Good luck to all of you for GMS.

Goodbye GMS thread!

Good Luck world! :D

I have a question due to mis reading of the time and site issues(or internet problems) i was unable to submit the applications but my recommender and nominator both submitted if i were to get the paper nominee form mailed in would that still give me a chance for them to consider. Or b/c i didn’t submit did they not recieve the nominator and recommend forms??

borkborkbork: don’t say that…you still in this

Best case scenario: GMS calls yor recommender for missing info.

and think about it this way, there are tons of applicants, your essays will beat most of them.

Worst case scenario: you become the 999th pick…so dont give up

bennjerrysxp: ONLY IF ITS POSTMARKED BY OR BEFORE DEADLINE.

ok…once again good luck everyone!! Good night

so we are suppose to fit 7000 character essays on the one piece of paper without attaching anything
that means we cant just print the essays out and send them with the application??
what did the paper application people do??
