Hey Y,

What exactly did yours say??

Hey Y,

What exactly did yours say??

Is there an interview involved for the semi-finalist?? or finalist?? Does anybody know??

What kind of stats are we talking about as far as applicants on this forum??

your interview are your essays

Looks like next week is it.

im thinking the week after next week (week of March 12) is going to be the week of finalist notifications
i'm so anxious now that i've found out i'm pell grant elligible!!!

Do you think that financial aid is the biggest eliminator??? I noticed a lot of people on this forum fro last year moved to the next round, but a lot got eliminated in the final round because of financial aid(pell grant).

What school did you list on your application?
I typed in the first school that I got accepted to, but wasn't sure if I wanted to attend. Now however, I'm very positive that I am not going to that school. I haven't made any decisions though, because I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools, but I have some ideas.
Should I call GMS and ask them if they can change the school on my application? or just leave it alone and wait to hear about semi-finalists and rejects since it's March already and they'll be announcing decisions soon?
:)

I'm sure that a lot of poeple change their minds all the time about the school they want to attend. I would wait.

Does anybody know when they actually notify about semifinalist standings?

Last year, they notified everyone on the 9th through a mass email.

From what I understand, notifications should got out all next week.

I know this has probably been covered, but do all applicants get notified? or just winners?

Only semi-finalists and winners get notified.

Bexline,

My email was the same as yours.

I have a question to previous Gates Scholar winners: What type of documentation is required to send if someone makes it as semi-finalist?

Is money for personal expenses included with this scholarship?

Psolo2: I found this on the GMS website:
"A GMS award is determined by unmet need based on the financial aid award package that will be provided by the Nominee’s college or university. It will help pay the cost of attendance, which includes tuition, fees, books, and living expenses for the academic year. Only Nominees who are selected as finalist will be requested to have a financial aid award package provided to GMS."

"living expenses"... I assume that's "housing." I don't think personal expenses are included, but I might be wrong.

bexline: Thank you :-)

Did you guys see the new GMS website layout? It's pretty neat :)

Notice the "Scholar Login" section. :D

any day now :D

haha college18, i did notice the scholar login. before i didn't really think about the scholar part when i read it and tried to sign in with my nominee account! wow i need something to keep my mind off of this.

eeeek! im so nervous lol! i want to be a scholar! but then again...it's safe to say everyone on this board does :D

I've been calling the GMS number - does everyone else's status say "GMS is currently processing nomination materials" when they log in via telephone (with SSN and birthdate)?
