<p>Okay, I checked the toll-free number. They have sent out notifcations and said I should receive one within a week. Oh gosh, this feeling is horrible. It is, it is. </p>

<p>RoflcopterSoi – If you are selected, you will be notified as a “semi-finalist.” From there, you will have to mail in a transcript, Fafsa goods, etc…, If they select you, you will be receive a letter telling you that you are a finalist. Hope that makes sense.</p>

<p>I found out my EFC was too high (approx. 5200) a while back, and I was just hoping I’d get rejected right off the bat so I wouldn’t feel I missed out. But darn!</p>

<p>Aw, sheesh. That sucks. I heard they raised the EFC up for Pell Grant Eligibility, but you are still a few hundred up. Hmm, I wish there was something you could do. 
My EFC is actually 0 and I was stressing that it might be too high. I’m sorry, even though it most likely doesn’t help at all.</p>
<p>I was wondering the same thing!! I had a friend last year notified as a FINALIST. She mailed everything in (or so someone told me) and somehow didn’t win the Gates. I was wondering how that was possible since I believe she comes from a single parent home and all. Hmm, but maybe her EFC was too high. No clue. I’m sure it does come into play, though since you must be eligible for the Pell Grant. Btw, roflcoptersoi – what race are you?</p>

<p>I just called the number and it says that a letter has been sent notifying me of my status. A letter!?!??? I’m REALLY, REALLY scared now! I have a feeling that they notify finalist by e-mail and everyone else by snail mail. Did anybody else check their status over the phone? It says that I should receive my notification in about a week and that if I don’t receive notification within a week, then I can call back and they can resend the notification. Resend? If they’re so nonchalant about my notification, then I must be rejected because isn’t there another deadline where finalist have to send in transcripts and all that other stuff? Maybe I’m just crazy. I don’t know. I think I’m gonna go sit down and cry.</p>

<p>Dub, I called the number as well and they told me the same thing. I remember reading last yr’s threads and they notified in mail AS WELL as e-mail. Okie doks, we’ll be fine. I know it. Just remain positive. Remain positive. Ahh, I think I’ll cry if I win it or lose. Just remember, we worked hard and put out all into those essays and application, in general. Things WILL work out. They must.</p>
