Hi, I am a student (and gay) who is applying to Connecticut College. The college seems great, but my only concern is that due to the college being small, the gay community there is going to be practically non existant.

Does anyone have any knowledge of how big/small the gay community there is? Thanks in advance.

Hi Montblue- thank you so much for your reply.

That’s great to hear that Connecticut College is accepting of LGBT people, but I was more looking for info on the size of Connecticut College’s LGBT community relative to the size of the college!

It’s common knowledge that places like Vassar have a large gay population relative to its size, but I can’t seem to find anything on the size of the gay community at Conn College. I can conclude it is accepting, but nothing about whether there are a decent amount of gays or not.

Hi Parks123- my daughter is very involved with Spectrum on campus and will post some stats within a week. Generally, she feels there is a very significant LGBTQ community (for a small student population). She can also forward a contact name to message with your questions.

Best of luck- my daughter has been thrilled with Conn. beyond her expectations in all areas.

Thank you so much Montblue. I really appreciate all your help.

I really hope I get into Conn! Did your daughter apply early to Conn?

Hi Parks123- stats report nearly 20 percent gay (males) and slightly less for females. She did not apply early.

Thank you so much Montblue!
