GCE Advanced Level

okay so i talked to my counselor about this and i decided to get more opinions.

heres a little history of myself. i did my high school in pakistan and i followed the british education system. our high school goes up to the 13th grade and we give our gce advanced level exams under the university of cambridge.

according to the uc website, credit is given to international students who have given gce advanced level exams. even each individual uc campus website states the same things.

but heres the catch: credit is given to INTERNATIONAL students.
i am not an international student. i am a us citizen and i went to ccc here for the last 2 years so technically that makes me a california resident for admission purposes

my question is will it help my case that ive completed both the international requirements for admission as well as the ccc coursework? my counselor said it will help alot because people do either or and not both so it could be a very good hook.

i just wanted to get opinion of people here on the forum. i dont want to get my hopes up but what do you guys think? it does make sense in my opinion.

please dont say no just for the sake of competition. if you think i wont, thats fine with me, because i think i have a decent gpa to get into some of the ucs with or without the gce exams. i just want to know what you think and why. thanks!!!

I don’t actually think that will help you. When you are filling your application they will ask for your High school diploma and you will have to submit those transcripts to the university in order to prove that you finished high school. If you are a California resident and a cc student, they only care about the units that you have taking at your cc. anything other than that will be optional. some universities won’t even ask for your GCE A/L results but some might ask you to mail it to them separately for admission purposes.

Best way to apply is as a cc student with 60 units because if you tried to make benefit out of your GCE A/L they could ask you for more info and document. You might even have to contact your old school. GCE A/L results would have helped you a lot if you are going as a freshman as it lowers the amount of prerequisites you have to take.

however just do not agree with my comment directly. Go and ask a TRANSFER counselor at your cc. you can also ask directly from the university admission office.
hope this helps

nope. what you said makes sense!

i was right. its foolish to get my hopes up lol.

good luck to everyone!!!
