I am 18. Just got out of high school in May. But I did not graduate. I failed one class my senior year that is required to graduate. I can take the class at a local oommunity college this semester and be done in Dec. and have my diploma so I can start college in spring. My question is, is that worth it? Should I just go ahead and get my GED ad start college in the fall or should I wait and get my diploma?? I have heard all the stories about them being "equivalent" but no one sees it that way. I am not dumb I made a 27 on my act. Just one class I messed around in screwed me over. I just am not sure if waiting 6 months to start college is worth it for my diploma. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone can give me some pointers on getting a job I would appreciate it. I played sports in high school so I didn't have time for a job but now that I'm out I can't find one anywhere with the economy the way it is. If anyone can help me I'd be appreciative. Thanks.

get your friggin diploma… 6 months is nothing

If you’re 100% sure you’ll graduate, I’d say your employers won’t care about your high school diploma. That being said, less than 30% of the population these days graduates with a 4-year degree from college, so I’d say go ahead and get your diploma. In the mean time, you can earn other college courses from community college so you won’t be “wasting” a semester completely.
