Gee, Wally! Tony Dow Has Died

So sad to hear that Tony Dow is in hospice. I loved Leave It to Beaver and still catch reruns now and again.

I was strangely emotional when it was first reported by mistake earlier today that he had died. Such memories. I wish him peace in his coming journey.

He has been an actor, diver, sculptor, has been open about struggles with depression. CBS Sunday Morning did a great interview with him awhile ago.

Hospice? I thought he actually died. I had the pleasure of being in some youth theater shows with him when I was way younger, and he was such a kind person even to those of us in the ensemble.

ETA…this was some error. Wishing him and his family comfort at this time.

H & I watched the CBS piece on him, and it was really good. We watched Leave it to Beaver this morning in Tony Dow’s honor.

As a young girl I thought he was the cutest boy ever!

I was sad when I learned of his “death” and relieved (but not for him) that it was a mis-report.

Tony Dow has died. Not unexpected, but sad. I came from anything but a Leave It to Beaver type family, but there was something about Tony Dow as Wally as a big brother that I loved. And I ended up having 2 boys myself. Condolences to his family. Sad day.

He’s exactly the age of my older brother, so there was always that identification. That whole generation of male child stars, including Paul Peterson, Johnny Crawford, Rusty Hamer, Billy Gray, Ricky Nelson and Tommy Rettig, really had some rough sailing. I think he may have been the only one who lived to see his grandchildren. May he rest in peace.

I met him about five or so years ago at a charity event. Nice guy and still quite striking at 70. RIP

I met Tony and Jerry Mathers at an event a little over 30 years ago. They autographed a picture I had from their days on the show. Took a picture with them too (then girlfriend took it). But back in the days of film cameras, you didn’t know what you had until you got the film processed. Blurry picture. Not the reason she is now a former girlfriend. LOL
