How would you describe the GenEd requirements at Northeastern? Did you think they got in the way of your education?
Can GenEd requirements be satisfied with AP credit?
Is there is a foreign language requirement, and can it be satisfied by non-AP courses at the high school level?
Is income from Co-op’s taxed
They aren’t restrictive at all. First, each option has tons of class options. Secondly, you can use AP credit. I haven’t had any problems.
Some majors do have a language requirement, but lots of science/engineering doesn’t.
Unless I am unaware of some specific tax policy (yet to personally go on co-op), yes, income will be taxed just like any other job. The rule for co-op is that you will on average cover your living expenses. Don’t count on it for any more than that, and if you are an art student or some other low paying field, don’t count on coverage of living necessarily.
Yes, they can be satisfied with AP credit. Then you can just take electives in topics you are interested in or do a double major.
And yes, income from coop is taxed.
Coop earnings are taxed but they do no affect any need based aid received.
The core requirements (what Northeastern calls gen-ed) have recently been redone, so I don’t know the exact details anymore of what is required. But yes, AP can count for this. And, you can petition to have a class counted for a core requirement if it’s not listed but you think it meets the goal of the requirement.
