General Business or Accounting LLC

In the fall I am attending SUNY Albany with the intent to study accounting and marketing. I am not sure which LLC I should do! General business or accounting? What is the difference between the two? Which one would you recommend? I am not a direct admit to the business school if that helps! Thanks!

My son is still in high school, and he would like to do something in business. I will suggest to you, what I suggested to him. I think Accounting would be the way to go if you like it. I just think that if you go into Accounting, you have a trade. If you go on to get your CPA, you will have more job security longer term than General business. Do not get me wrong, you can do marketing, sales, etc but with an Accounting degree, if you get a CPA, you now have a license. I have not seen many CPA’S starve if ever. If you are good, you will always find work somewhere. That is my thought on the subject.

As an aside, I was just curious, what your gpa and sat scores were in high school? I think Albany has a very good business school. I know alot of folks talk about suny Binghamton, but Albany has that new business school and they have the big 4 accounting firms up there all of the time. I was just wondering what the real deal is with the admissions at SUNY Albany. I read alot of stats, but I sometimes take those with a grain of salt.

I do see that they have a direct admit program. I know you are not a direct admit, but did you apply as a direct admit? I was not sure what you needed to get in as a direct admit these days.

Anyway good luck with whatever you choose.
