I hope you guys are enjoying your Thanksgiving Break :)

Just curious, what areas are you most interested in volunteering? Aside from volunteering/community service hours, what are some genuine things that you guys are interested in?

I would love to find ways to help out the environment, participate in lake cleanup organizations, and educating others about problems in our environment (much thanks to my wonderful APES class <3 ).

As a nerdy CC'er, I would also be interested in helping others with education, including providing tutoring services to those who need it. A teacher learns as much as, if not more than, the student. Like, I could go on forever about college admissions and etc. Even though I'm concerned about my own chances to the colleges I want to go to :P

My passion is helping children! Almost all of my volunteering involves children in some way, and I want to be a pediatric oncologist (hopefully at St.Jude) one day :). I’ve been volunteering with children since 6th grade when I started helping in the nursery at church.

^That’s wonderful! I know you will make it! Haha, who doesn’t love children <3

Assisting in Education and working with Children. I spent 4 years of HS working with STEM Education and Robotics, and spent my summer teaching and working at a summer camp, primarily in programming.

@MIT: That sounds amazing! I wish I could do something like that
How did you have the opportunity to work with STEM ed and robotics?

I can’t seem to find a volunteer place that will accept me for being 13. I would love to volunteer at a soup kitchen, but you have to be 18. Same goes with the animal shelter and several other volunteer places in my city.

^^I’ve been doing Robotics since I was about 11. When I moved to VA and started volunteering, I quickly became one of their experts in Robotics there. Been volunteering since then.

^Oh, I see, that’s quite amazing. Congratulations haha

Educating children!!! Volunteering at the science museum, teaching math and science through a summer program, tutoring 8th graders at the local private school for their entrance exams, hehe Teaching is awesome.

History and war remembrance. I’m volunteering at Imperial War Museum London in a project to digitalise all their WW1 q-series photographs, which is a lot by the way.
