General questions about transferring

I'm currently a Freshman at the University of Scranton and I strongly think I'm going to transfer at the end of my Sophomore year. To be honest the only reason I'm transferring is because of the price. I originally thought that my parents would be able to afford it, but thats not the case at all. So either I have to take out loans that will be the equivalent of buying a small house, or transfer and only pay half of what the school will cost for 4 years. Schools that interest me are, Penn State (University Park), Cornell (College of Agriculture and life sciences), and possibly Fordham (I know Fordham is expensive to, but at least it has a bigger name and it is closer to home). So question is, when should I apply? My Jr year would start fall of 2013 and I'm a biology/pre med major with a double major in history. If there are any other schools that have big names and are strong in these fields, please list them. My current GPA is defiantly above a 3.0, but I don't know exactly what it is because they didn't give us are grades yet. Also is it easier to transfer after 2 years of college compared to applying as a Sr in H.S or having one year of college? Thanks

bump…

You can start applying as a transfer for Fall 2013 by the summer time.
When you say definitely above 3.0 do you mean 3.5 or higher?
Transferring after two years is not an issue, transferring as senior is a waste of time unless you’re in a desperate situation and need to transfer for your final year.

I just got my GPA its a 3.47

Are you a resident of PA? Do you qualify for need based aid?

No. And no. The school gave us nothing

Then how will the new list be more affordable?

2 of them are state schools and Fordham will be a better school to spend money on
