General Questions about UIAUC

Hello,

I'm thinking about applying to engineering at Illinois next year and have a few questions.
Does Illinois consider freshmen year grades when calculating GPA? What's the avg. admit's GPA? What's the minimum number of SAT2s required? Does Illinois consider grades from Semester 1 of Senior year?

Thanks!

I assume you mean UIUC (the "at" does not appear in the acronym) It relies heavily on class rank rather than GPA and estimates rank if your school does not rank. It considers freshman grades as a result. It does not use senior year grades to determine admission (although very poor senior year grades can lead to revocation of its decision to admit). UIUC neither requires nor considers SAT IIs for admission. Engineering 25% to 75% range is usually about top 10-12% class rank to top 3% and ACT of 30 to 33 (SAT about 1320 to 1490 not counting writing section). That is for engineering overall, bioengineering range is significantly above that (e.g., the 50% ACT range for bio has been close to 33-35) and electrical and computer engineering and computer science are usually slightly above that overall range.

UIUC has a priority filing date, usually November 15. If you apply AND get all necessary supporting materials in (not just mailed) by that date including test scores, you will receive a decision of admit deny, or deferred about December 15. Otherwise you will not receive a decision until late February (and for deferreds from Dec, you also get a final decision at that time). Those who meet the Nov 15 priority date are considered to have "somewhat" of an advantage in admissions over those who do not.
