Do deferred students get any priority over those who filed their applications after the priority deadline? Also, did anyone else get deferred from Engineering? Please respond.

Thanks!

I don't think so.

No. Once you're deferred, you get put into the same pool as all applicants who applied after the priority deadline.

If you want to be accepted next time around, make sure you show interest in the school. Work hard to keep your grades up, and retake the SAT or ACT if you think you can make an improvement. If you don't do anything to make your app stronger, you'll be rejected.

tb2588-The letter they sent to me says this:

"Should I send letters of recommendation or mid-semester grades?

No. We base our decision on the required information submitted with your application. Do not send additional information as it will not be factored into the decision and only delay the review process."

So no more ACT or SAT scores. Maybe I could speak with the admissions counselors or a dean for recommendations?

UIUC does not rely on recommendations or mid-year senior grades for admission. However, if you have taken the December ACT or SAT, you can send that to update your file. January's SAT will be too late.

Also be aware: engineering defers a lot of applicants. If you were not rejected (which they will do to a lot rather than defer) then your chances of admission have not significantly changed because about 60% of those deferred will eventiually be admitted.

Ah! Sweet. Thanks! I can send in my (really awesome) ACT scores from October's test :D.
