So wait, what are the courses that every major has to take? I looked at the GE page, but I'm still kind of confused. There are the six sections, then language, diversity, and writing? Is it just a one semester class of each?

Hey!
So the GE’s (general education) that everyone has to take is:
Category 1-6 (you can look up the specifics online, but 1 is “western cultures” 2 is “global cultures”, 3 & 4 are science ones, 5 is “arts and letters” and 6 is “social issues”)

The writing classes are WRIT 140 (which you take with Category 6) and WRIT 340 (which you can take specific to a major- so for example, “Writing for Business majors”)

Diversity is another class and there are specific classes you can choose from to satisfy the requirement. Here’s a nice little tip though: Classes are listed by department, then a number, and possibly some letters. For example, SOCI 200m is Intro to Sociology. Because it has an “m” after the number, that means it satisfies diversity. Some Category 1 and 6 classes can satisfy both its own category AND diversity, so if you want to kill two birds with one stone, definitely look into that. (I hope this didn’t confuse you too much!)

All these requirements are one semester long.

Only certain majors have a language requirement (I’m pretty sure it is only the majors that will give you a Bachelor of Arts degree). This website lists the majors that have a language requirement: [Welcome to the USC Orientation Programs Website](http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/testing/foreign.shtml)

Hope this helps!

thank you so much!:D
