Genetics or Microbiology for MCAT?

I'm going to be taking the MCAT this spring and would like to know which of these two courses would be better for the MCAT? I haven't taken a Biology course outside of Physiology since my HS days (AP bio) and considering I'm a graduate student at 25 years old and graduated HS a year early, that's been a long time.

I want to take the Microbio course because it has a lab associated with it and would not have to take a separate lab as I would with the Genetics course. However, I know I need to do well on the MCAT so if Genetics is going to help me more it is best for me to take that.

Any opinions? Thanks.

Well, micro isn't specifically on the MCAT, as far as I remember, so genetics would be more helpful. At least as far as being specific for the test.

The genetics on the MCAT, if I remember correctly, is really simple stuff. A whole course on the topic is overkill for the MCAT. Microbio is useless for MCAT prep.

Genetics is the better of the two, but as shades_children said, I'd consider both overkill. Anything higher than the courses they require is really unnecessary; I took Cell & Molec and it was nice having that extra instruction, but everything in the prep books is covered in your basic classes.

Alright maybe I should rephrase then. Considering the fact that I have AP Bio, took Physiology, will take Cell Bio next year (need to take BioChem before Cell Bio, taking BioChem next semester) and want to take one more biology course this semester for the MCATs (simply because I haven't taken a Bio course in years and feel I would be best to take one to refresh my memory) which biology course would you recommend?

Thanks again.

Genetics, hands down.
