Hi. My son is starting in Fall 2011 and most likely staying in Libra or Nike (no kitchen). Was thinking of the "all access 5" meal plan since he eats many small meals a day and it has flex dollars for the weekends. Outside of that, does anyone know if you can bring a George Foreman (or other type of indoor grill) to be used in the dorm rooms just for that home-cooked flavor? :)
Also, anyone else have an opinion on the L-shaped vs pod Libra dorm? The L-Shape looks to be a lot bigger with a smaller bathroom. Does it still have a decent enough sized bathroom for a guy who doesn't care too much about the beauty of it? He's also rolling the dice and not choosing a roommate. Wants to meet new people and knows several of his friends will still be there.

For the George Foremen, I’m pretty sure you can’t bring one :(, I’d check the Housing website just to be sure though

As for the dorms, not entirely sure :/, seems like the L-shaped one is the better option. Hope is works out with his roommate, I’m also choosing to take a gamble since none of my friends have gotten a reply ^^

On this page there is a list of what not to (and to) bring.

George Foreman grills are not allowed.

When I visited I loved the L shaped Libras . That’s where I want to stay if I get accepted (:
I didn’t notice the bathroom being abnormally small or anything in the L shaped either.

Well best of luck to you MaydayParade!! :D

Thanks for replying. These forums have great information. I know that Nike is newer and Towers is nicer but he is looking to be close to classes as well as social and he loved the location of the Libra dorms. Unfortunately we went on a Saturday just to look around and couldn’t look inside any of the dorms so we just scouted locations
He loves that it’s near his classes, across from the gym and pool and right next to the dining hall. My daughter would definitely prefer Towers…lol He’s not all that concerned with aesthetics. I’m so excited for him to start this next phase of his life and see where it takes him. Good luck to you all!
