no undergrad education is worth high 5 figures/6 figures of debt…

I’m 10k in the hole right now, and I consider that a semi-win so I’d be willing to tack on another 50-60k over another 2 years despite plans to go to law school afterwards.

However, it’s not like I have an option as my instate rejected me and there is no way I’m going to wait a semester to reapply. Although I must say I’d happily take out the loans in order to attend GW. Personally, I feel the experience at GW would be invaluable for a poly sci major / law student.

Thank you everyone for the input. I’ll see how much Financial Aid I can get as a transfer student. I wouldn’t want to take out too many unsubsidized loans since their interest will keep piling up on top of the loan itself.

I will come back to you guys once I get the decision and Financial Aid package and then we can all decide what I can do.

Thanks again.

xhongxkongx :
I like your name because I am from Hong Kong xDD
But it sounds like you are a resident here.
I can’t get financial aids since I am international transfer
I need to reply University of Rochester before 30May so I hope GW will post the results soon.

U guys are from hongkong? same as me! good to c u in here!

lol you are from hong kong too?! I thought Hong Kong people only like going to UC…
if I get accepted by GW, should I go to Uni of Rochester or GW?

I think as for academic, Uni of Rochester is similar to GW. I know the weather in Washington D.C is much better than that in Rochester. Also, there is more stuff to do in Washington D.C. However, I searched online for apartment/townhouse/house. I can hardly find any apartment around $500 in Washington D.C. I have never been to Rochester and Washington D.C, but seems like Washington D.C living expense is so freaking high not to mention the tuition fee.

okay so i called again and got another update! they said that the decisions should be up online by the end of this week!

sweet!

I just hope they receive and read my spring grades in time.

i just hope that theyre sticking to what they say now because before it was the 25th; seems like they keep pushing the date back.

Yes, today they email me said the final decision of transfer student will be announced in the end of this month.

Just got into American plan b…Hopefully I get into GW my first choice.

@kameow: yeah I’m from hong kong too. If we both get into GWU we must meet up!

@benlu1990: good to see you too!

Just extended my deadline for one university, I really hope I get into GWU, it’s my first choice but chances are slim…

I have been told that decisions will be released around the last week of May/ first week of June. Also, I received an E-mail from GW’s financial aid office stating that they are doing preliminary reviews of financial aid applications. This seems like a pretty good sign. Hopefully financial aid rewards will be released shortly after admissions decisions are released.

^^ yeah same, just contacted them again and they said that transfer decisions will be available 1st week of june. so we will all definitely know our decision next week.

would be nice if they could pick a date and stick with it.

annoyed…I have 3 other colleges i need to ask to extend bc of GW. pleeeeeease make this wait worth it!!!

I might have to ask for a second extension, I called them today and they say the decisions will be released on a rolling basis in the next week or two…

One thing I don’t get is why can’t they release the decisions now? What difference would it make? If people got accepted and they don’t want to go because they have other options then their slot will be emptied out so the students on the waiting list will have a chance.

On a side note, I’ve been having dreams about getting into GWU for a couple of days now…

Okay so someone else today in the office said that the earliest decisions will be released is tomorrow and latest June 1st. And he said that they are doing it on a rolling basis, so once they make a decision about an applicant, they notify them. So not everyone will not know all at once. Anyone who gets a decision, let us know! :)
