For anyone who’s seen the GW campus, is it a more condensed campus or more spread out across the city? For example, is it more like Boston College or Boston University in the sense of its campus?
more like Boston university for sure. to be honest with you, I toured GW a couple weeks ago and personally did not like it. They are extremely vague in their presentation and tour. The campus was nothing special and the life after GW didn’t seem like it would land you a good job right away. . I liked BU ten times more than GW.
@Jsan81 Say what you will about the campus. It certainly isn’t for everyone. American U, for instance, has a far more idyllic campus. But, I think your comment about landing a good job is unfair. All other things being equal, your odds a a solid financial future aren’t going to vary greatly between GW and BU. There just isn’t enough to distinguish between the two. However, GW is uniquely close to a wide range of internship opportunities that just don’t exist anywhere else. That isn’t valuable for every job, but it is for many.
I went to BU and toured GW with my son who got into GW, (but chose to go elsewhere).
GW actually has 2 campuses, one that was purchased (Vernon) and the main one in Foggy Bottom.
We took a shuttle to see the alternate campus. It was nice, and convenient to get back and forth.
If you want a quiet place to sleep at night yet the excitement of classes and career opportunities of a big city, GW was ideal. They have dorms and classes on both campuses (though I think most classes are on main).
Hard for me not to be biased towards BU but the career opportunities are very different based on what else is located in Boston and DC. Reputation of BU is very good now, and much higher ranked, but if you want an internship in DC, logistics favor GW. Personally I wanted to work in financial tech, so Boston was a better city to live and study, and that worked better for me. I love both campuses personally, and GW offers the extra option of a more typical campus for part of your time there.
@maddieb18 take a walk around campus on Google Maps!
@Fishnlines29 HAHA, I thought I was the only one that did that. Any time I’m missing campus I “walk” the streets
