@northstarfx Yeah totally! I live in oregon, and that probably helped me. I had pretty good scores and a 4.00. I was captain of my ski team and president of my French club. I was in NHS and I did sports pretty much the whole way through (varsity in xc ski). Hope that helps! The admissions counselor didn’t mention how many kids they were accepting into the school
Does anyone have more details about how the extended waitlist works?
The committee already has good knowledge of all extended wait list applicants, but I think they reconvene again starting next week to go over the files and start offering spots. There will probably be 10-15 spots offered next week or the week after (if it is similar to past years), which are, 1) spots that were initially offered to the original wait listed applicants, but were turned down, or 2) spots that have recently opened up after students were offered positions at other colleges. After this initial round, then I think the spots just get offered on a one-by-one basis.
Also, I heard that MSB is completely full…don’t know about NHS, SFS, or the College.
My daughter received an email yesterday asking her to call ASAP regarding her application. Unfortunately, by the time she got home from school they were gone for the day (3 hour time difference). She tried to call again this morning, but no such luck as it is a holiday weekend. Tuesday seems incredibly far away…
@LosAngelesMom That sounds very promising! Was it her regional admissions officer who called? What college did she apply to? NHS, SFS, COL?
@northstarfx It was an email, not a call. It came from a woman with the title of senior associate director (not her regional admissions officer). My daughter applied to the College.
My daughter just spoke with her, She wanted to confirm that my daughter still wanted to attend GT. The committee will be meeting at 3:00 pm today. Good luck everyone.
That sounds very promising for your daughter @LosAngelesMom! I would be very surprised if she doesn’t get admitted at this point. Did your daughter send in any extra information after being waitlisted? It seems like the admissions dept calls applicants who may not have sent in additional materials but have very high stats (i.e. 2300± SAT / 4.0 UW GPA).
@northstarfx, My daughter does have high SATs & a high GPA too. She did submit some updates including scholarship awards, a second letter from her GT interviewer, etc. I’ll post her results when I know them.
I got an email asking me to call tomorrow morning
My daughter has been accepted off of the extended waitlist. She was notified by email, and told she will get her acceptance letter in a couple of days. Good luck to all!
Congrats to your daughter @LosAngelesMom! I assume the same outcome is awaiting for @NickDS after he makes his call. Please let us know the outcome of your call!
@northstarfx, Thanks. The letters were going to be mailed today or tomorrow.
I got in!
@NickDS Congratulations!
Congrats @NickDS! You totally deserve it after your long journey! For those of us still waiting, let’s hope there are more spots still open :). Good luck to everyone still remaining :-*
Congrats everyone! I’m still hoping!!!
Do you think some of us will hear tomorrow?
I am hoping so! I know that they cannot be done with the extended waitlist yet as they gave the first round of accepted waitlisted applicants until June 1st to accept/deny their spot. Hopefully this week we will know!
Hey guys! I know this is a little late to ask, but I was wondering if there was anyone who sent their updates in emails to Georgetown (guadmiss@georgetown.edu and guapplication@georgetown.edu) and never received a response other than the automated response that says Georgetown received the email
