Georgetown Waitlist Thread 2018

I thought we could discuss everything regarding the waitlist here. I was waitlisted at SFS and emailed my regional officer some additional information. I haven't received a reply though. Have you guys?

Most likely you will not receive a reply until sometime after May 1st, the decision due date. The school first needs to determine how many EA and RD applicants have accepted before they can begin to figure out how many and who to take off the wait list. Unfortunately it is a stressful waiting game, but be aware that Georgetown typically takes very few off its waiting list. Having said that, each year is different and you just never know. So, keep your fingers crossed and good luck!

@Dad082 I was just hoping for some confirmation that the information I sent was added to my file. Thanks so much though for the kind wishes!

They don’t acknowledge the receipt of additional information, but you may be able to call the admissions office to confirm that it has been added to your file.

Son waiting on SFS wait list.

Do you know how to send additional information for the waiting list? Thanks a lot.

@bububabi Email your admissions representative. I had to email the school to ask who my counselor was.

Thank you very much. I look the counselor in the directory on the website. The results are coming out starting today, hoping.

Hey has anyone gotten any phone calls? I’ve heard that they can sometimes call people they want to take off the waitlist. I’m getting anxious over here

I am an international student who is on waitlist at SFS. According to the waitlist threads in recent years, people who are offwaitlist will receive a call from admissions officers at Georgetown. So I think they’ll probably do the same thing this year. But does anyone know how this works for international students? Do they call international students as well?

Hi all, I’m an international student wait listed at Georgetown College. I’m getting anxious, too! Do they call people or do they send emails?

I guess I have to be the one to say this guys, given the fact that this thread has 1,700 views and no one has chimed in about getting a call yet from admissions…it’s likely that the class of 2018 is full.

Just our luck too, since ~10% got off the WL for the class of 2016 and 2017 in MSB, SFS, and the College.

Every year where the class wasn’t full (all years except 2011), people have gotten off the WL since May 3rd. It is now the night of the 6th and there is not a soul on CB who has reported getting off the WL.

My condolences everyone! I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t seem like that…

I did get a phone call. But Ironically, they called my house while nobody was home, and just said the call was regarding my position on the wait list… So I can’t tell you if I was admitted or not yet (I have to call back in the morning) but after reading that they call students they want to accept, I’m hoping its good news and not like (there was a problem with your SAT scores or something). I applied to SFS btw.

@‌kristinmg

That’s great news and the call is likely to confirm your interest, which means that they most likely will offer you a spot.

Was the call today? And if you don’t mind me asking, what state are you from?

The call came around 12 my time (3 EST) today. I’m in Arizona, land of the triple digit temperatures. And I really hope so. My parents are more excited than me because I’m too scared to get my hopes up until I know if its for real

sfs waitlistee here
@kristinmg‌ are u waitlisted for sfs as well?

@kristinmg Did you happen to get off the waiting list? SFS applicant here.

I am an SFS waitlistee as well. I called the admissions office and the person I spoke to said we will be receiving calls on May 15th. I asked if anyone would receive a call before then and he said no, but I’m assuming from past years that the last day everyone will hear officially is May 15th.

@vsooorz‌
I’ve read the WL threads from past years, and you’re right. The admissions office is really secretive and not in agreement over what they exactly do.

-We should be getting calls from May 3-15. At any time (Noon-Night EST)
-International Applicants hear back by email by the 15th.
-Georgetown sends out letters that arrive anytime from 13-16th. If you don’t get a call, it doesn’t necessarily mean that your letter isn’t an acceptance.

CC has been really tame this year, so I’m wondering exactly how many people have gotten calls so far.

@CAShopeful‌ I really don’t know what to expect anymore and this anticipation is freaking me out. I was deferred Early Action and Waitlisted Regular Decision and this is the only school I want to go to so I really cannot wait any longer. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon.
