***Georgetown 2022 Applicants Discussion***

Has anyone been able to access financial aid info on the portal?

i have no idea quite honestly. only got that letter

I received a financial aid package and said I will get a my access login in a separate mailing. What does this mean about acceptance?

@paddym0906 I would call the admissions office. Some people on past threads have reported receiving FA letters and admission on the same day, but never one without the other. Maybe the admissions decision was lost.

I am contemplating Georgetown (McDonough school of business) vs. UC Berkeley (Need to compete again in for HaaS school in sophomore year to get into HaaS). I am closer to Berkeley and it’s in-state tuition and ranked well above Georgetown in undergraduate business program and lots of students get into investment banking and wall street. But I also like Georgetown because of small class size and exposure to DC, but it’s $70K vs $40K. Although money is not a concern, is it worth spending $30K when I have UC Berkeley.
Would appreciate any input to help me make a decision.

I’m choosing between an Honors LLP at University of Maryland (in state, I wouldn’t have any loans), or Human Science at Georgetown NHS (70k, lots of student loans). I want to go to med school so that would mean more loans, but Georgetown is my dream school and I really really really don’t like UMD. I would appreciate any advice.

@2018student I can’t speak to the academic programs, but the vibe at each school is markedly different. You really need to make sure that the fit is right. Add in costs for travel too. You won’t need a car because you can get everywhere without one in DC.

Question about Financial Aid**
For anyone who has received it, what did you receive? Also, did you receive merit-based scholarships and/or need-based grants/gifts?

@chasesog We are still waiting. According to the website, GU doesn’t offer merit based scholarships All are need based. Details about aid are pretty much non existent in past threads.

My son did access financial aid via “My Access” which demonstrated that he had missing information–good to check.

Tough decision. Friend of my son’s chose the state school because he knew he was going to have to pay a lot for Med School. One thought is state school for undergrad and then try for Georgetown Med. I suggest you keep asking people–play out your future scenarios and see what works best. You may want to reach out to doctors who have gone to Georgetown and had loans–were they able to pay them off when they started practicing? Good to take some time to think this over–both decisions can be good, but you have to be willing to live with the one you make.

Good idea to ask–and use that pros and cons list, it’s such a simple strategy, but powerful. List the pros and cons for each scenario and see which one wins out.

Has anyone received any email from Georgetown?

@Cariar, my son received an email with GAAP information and a link to register. It came in a few days ago.

@VAMom23 thanks. I am assuming your son is domestic applicant?

@Cariar yes.

I still havent received my decision and I am
Afraid of calling but the fact i did not receive any mail I am assuming I was not accepted

@cariar I assume that you have checked the spam/junk email folder. Call admissions on Tuesday. They are closed tomorrow for Easter break. I’m sorry. I must be very stressful to have not heard.
