Georgetown 2023 Applicants Discussion

Not sure if there’s a thread out there for this, if there’ is please link me to it below. Overall, who is applying to Georgetown class for those of you in the high school class of 2019, and is it your first choice? What are your stats? Also the best place to ask questions.

Georgetown’s my first choice but currently junior year is making me feel that will unlikely happen, so hopefully the holistic review can truly help! My gpa unweighted is a 4.0 (my school doesnt weigh or rank) and my SAT was a 1350 but i’m taking the act april 14

I think Georgetown is my first choice! However, I don’t know if I am going to get in unfortunately. My weighted GPA is a 4.231 and my two SAT scores are 1480 & 1460, with a super score of 1500.

There’s a lot of doubt in here and that scares me yikes. @mcunerd a 4.0 is great actually, and it’s a holistic review as you said, so hopefully that’ll come in favor for us all! @gtownlover123 your SAT score is high and so is your GPA… Overall Georgetown is also moving up to my first choice past USC… what majors are you all planning to do?

Thank you! I want to be a Biology major in Georgetown College and maybe minor in Spanish! You?

@gtownlover123 Biology is a great major actually, are you interested in becoming a doctor in the future by any chance? For me, I am more of a politics guy, so government, policy, and politics is the way I want to go, hopefully ending up in the white house.

Yes, I want to be a doctor! Georgetown has an early assurance program into their School of Medicine which I am very interested in!

Im hoping to major in International Economics in the SFS!

I wouldn’t mind applying to Georgetown. The NHS looks really cool, especially the nursing part! They also have a really neat internship program with Seaboard USY. I’m kinda worried about how competitive the Blue and Gray tour guide society seems though because being a tour guide at college is something I’m really passionate about doing.

@Thundercrashbolt I’m sure that your determination for being a tour guide will separate you from the rest of the applicants at Georgetown for a tour guide position. I was also interested in being a tour guide so we’ll see how that goes haha.

Jumping on to this thread because I will be applying to Georgetown RD. It’s one of my top choices. My GPA is VERY LOW compared to the previously admitted students, but I am gonna give it a shot anyway because you miss every shot you don’t take.

@holdenc12 Yes!!! You miss every shot you don’t take, that’s what everyone at my school says!

@SafalM, you’re so full of positivity! It’s making this thread so much better. Thanks!

My son is planning to apply to SFS with a minor in Arabic. I am a 1993 grad so if you guys have any questions I can try to answer them to the best of my ability re: the campus and the experience of going to school at GU. I did notice that the dorms don’t look like they have changed much since I was there…

@Thundercrashbolt There are tons and tons of volunteer and outreach opportunities at GU besides the tour guides if you are interested. There was a great program there while I was enrolled that matched rising seniors at GU to incoming freshman that lived near their hometowns. We met with them one on one over the summer to try to answer their questions about life at the school and try to allay any concerns they might have had, and made sure they knew at least one friendly face when they arrived in the fall.

@Samsmom2019 I have to ask, how is the food at Georgetown?

@SafalM When I went to GU in the early 90s, the food was kinda standard university food. I only lived on campus the first year but don’t remember having any big complaints one way or the other. The food court in Leavey (the student center) opened during my Senior year which we all loved because it had Taco Bell. The last time I was there it had updated to more healthy options like Subway and the delicious Elevation Burger (which have all closed in our area so it was a nice treat!). On our campus tour they highlighted the new dining areas and they all looked great with a lot of variety. Wish it had been like that when I was there!

@Samsmom2019 Woah, that sounds so cool! Thank you so much for telling me about that program.

Hi I also plan on applying with Georgetown as my first choice. I currently have a GPA of 3.93 and an SAT score of 1580 and by the end of my senior year, I would have taken 10 AP courses with a total of 12 AP exams (2 self studied).
