@mes0212 did you call today? And what phone number did you use?
Wait, can you call the admissions office to find out? That’s a thing?
I tried calling today but their office is closed sundays. They’re open 9-5 this whole week!
To clarify, I didn’t call today. my dad got a call as an alumnus yesterday and told me today.
@mes0212 why were you expecting a deferral? Your application seems strong. Was it the engineering program you wanted? What do you mean your hooks don’t count yet? Legacy doesn’t count until rd?
Just to clarify, has anyone received a letter in the mail today?
@dallas2023 People that have gotten info are saying it was sent first class, not priority, so no letters today

Strengths: Test scores, focused political extracurriculars; essays
Weaknesses: No major awards; nothing that sets me apart
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My ECs were focused on Politics and my passion was reflected in my essays
Accepted/waitlisted/rejected: not applied yet
General Comments: I believe the fit is more important than anything else. My family wanted me to apply to more known brands such as Princeton and Harvard but I found that Georgetown was a better fit. My passion is politics and I want to join Canadian Foreign Service so this school is the best option!!
@bestuni2019 Did you get an email as an international? Was it today or yesterday? Congratulations on getting in btw
Wishing you all the very best, but my college counselor told me to avoid any major which ends with “studies”. Like “Global Studies”, “Interdisciplinary Studies”, or “Gender Studies”. He says they are all a total waste of money. They lack rigor, apparently.
Did all of you submit a resume along with your application?
Because I realize now that my AP scores weren’t included on the application
I submitted a resume but I didn’t include my AP scores because my counselor told me not to put any scores on a resume, but rather focus on work experience, extracurriculars and awards.
@JOHNKIM1883 honestly i think the only time ap scores come into play really is when you’re trying to get credit in college. don’t sweat it imo it really doesn’t so much matter as to what you got on the exam but more so which ap classes you took, how many you took out of the ones your school offers, and what you got in them, which all can be seen on your transcript
I got an email on Friday at 7pm
An acceptance email?
Tomorrow guys!
@JOHNKIM1883 If you notice from these posts, not everyone who was accepted took and achieved smoking scores on SAT 2s. I submitted mine because that was the rule. They were okay, but not great. My counselor recommended also submitting AP scores to prove that I had mastered what was taught in class so I did.
georgetown did a presentation to local schools along w a few other high end schools and something their rep emphasized was that they don’t care about ap scores as part of the application
@RFM1617 you raise a point which I have been wondering about. Those of you that are listing your AP scores, did you submit them through college board or just list what they were on the application or on your resume?
@snowy2010 I don’t agree with what your counselor says about majors that end in the word “studies”, especially at a school like Georgetown.
And there are so many prominent politicians that have graduated from Georgetown, many of them from SFS. If you want a career in politics, this is a great place to start.
Congrats @bestuni2019 on your acceptance. I agree with your comments about fit, which I think is exactly what Georgetown does when reviewing applications…they look for kids that “fit”.
