For the lucky ones who received a acceptanc letters, does your Georgetown status portal indicate that you have been accepted?
Thank you and congrats!!
Nope. It is still the same as it was when I applied.
thank you @RFM1617 !
@snowy2010 nope! it’s the same screen as when i submitted my app
I am admitted into SFS, undeclared major, but I applied with an intended major- does everyone who’s admitted get undeclared and then declare our majors later? Can someone explain this? Thanks.
@mdawg19 I am also wondering the same thing because I applied with an intended major in the college but was admitted undeclared.
Congrats!! That is a huge achievement. Would it be possible to pls share your stats? I’m applying to SFS as well EA but haven’t received the letter yet.
NY - received acceptance to SFS late afternoon yesterday. Really happy.
Can you pls kindly share your stats for us suffering souls? The wait is a killer. Thank you!
I shared my testing stats earlier in this discussion! Hope that helps ease the tension a bit- cause my stats weren’t perfect! But clearly they, coupled with other factors such as extracurriculars, were good for SFS ?.
Has anyone who has been admitted to any school been given a major other than undeclared??? I need to know bc I applied for a major I’m rlly interested in and Georgetown put me in as undeclared. Maybe they made a mistake? Or is that how they do it for all admits?
Anybody else accepted to SFS who can pls share their stats? Thanks! I’m dyin’
I’m pretty sure everyone enters undeclared and you declare your major sometime (sophomore?) year
Does GTown admit to a major or to a college of entry? You guys can easily look that up on the GTown website.
Let me know if anyone gets mail today! I know it’s Sunday so they won’t mail unless it’s priority. So if they do mail priority today, there might be a chance I get the letter!!
Georgetown admits almost everyone undeclared. It’s very easy to switch major until sophomore year (and even switch schools tbh). Don’t sweat it - declaring is a formality that might give you some advantage in picking classes, but that’s about it.
CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ADMITTED! Can’t wait to see y’all at GAAP
Also, you are admitted to a specific school as well as the University at large. That being said, the undergraduate body is totally mixed - the difference between the schools isn’t that noticeable, since we all share the same Core classes (and admit rates are largely equivalent).
If you decide you want to switch schools, you’ll have to fill out an application essay (College kids switching to the SFS do the Global Issue essay, for example). They usually accept, and something like 10-12% of students switch schools while at Georgetown. If you have decided you want to be in a different school, you can just send an email to the Deans in the coming months and ask to switch. I would personally recommend sticking it out with your school, though, and transferring once here if it’s a big deal.
My daughter told me something interesting about declaring majors (she’s a sophomore in MSB and entered as a finance major which she still is, and added a sociology minor). She said you had be apply for the American Studies major. I guess it’s popular?? Sounds like an awesome major. Doesn’t mean you can’t get it, but it’s not automatic? I think that’s what she means. And she has two friends that transferred into SFS…one from MSB, one from the college. Both had solid GPA’s. I do think it’s easier there than at most schools to switch colleges within the university…but Georgetown has ABOUT the same admission rates to their four schools (within a few points) so I’m thinking the caliber of students is pretty even.
@mdawg19 and @Matt10121 Same for me. Declared an SFS major, but acceptance said “undeclared.” Guess that means they are flexible.
