Georgetown Acceptance Question

Georgetown, being my number one choice, is the school I’m striving to get into. If I aim for that, I feel confident I’ll be able to get into my more safe schools. What things are known/thought to help gain acceptance into GTown? Where should biggest influence be placed to prepare my application? Are essays, GPA, test scores, or extracurriculars more important? Any experience with the Georgetown admissions process would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So the CDS is a good way to start:

From there you can see that academics are very important while ECs are important.

I’m pretty sure that all of them are important, There will be more people with high stats, amazing EC etc than there are spots in the class. While the interview isn’t a big piece of it, I suggest that you immediately reach out to the alumni who has been assigned to interview you (you will receive that information after you submit Part I of the application. The interviewer is instructed to wait a week to give the candidate a chance to reach out to them, but the expectation, as indicated in the email you’ll receive, is that the candidate will reach out to the interviewer.) When you go to the interview, be ready to use that as an opportunity to share anything that doesn’t come across in your application. Maybe it’s the depth of involvement in a certain activity that can’t be fully conveyed in the space on the application or something that there just isn’t a spot to share. So even though you might not have completed Part II, make sure you have gotten far enough into it that you have an idea what you will be writing about in the essays so that you will know what parts of your story that you’ll want to convey. Also, the interview is an opportunity for you to get a better idea of fit, so please ask questions. And if you can convey how/why you see yourself fitting into Georgetown, that will show that you have researched the university and have reflected on it. The acceptance rate for Georgetown is a bit midleadingly high. By virtue of not being on the common app, a number of potential, but not as serious, candidates weed themselves out at the very beginning thus reducing the number of applications. Good luck! It’s a wonderful place in so many ways.
