Georgetown Class of 2025 Regular Decision

Does anyone know if the waitlist acceptance rate will be as good as last year?

I donā€™t think so. I think it was high last year due to the number of kids deferring due to Covid. My guess is it will be more in keeping with the 6%, 0% and 4% of the three years prior. I also think that is why the acceptance rate was lower this year. They had less spaces because of Freshman from this year deferring to next year.

Whatā€™s your major?

Applications submitted via the Common App, which is used by more than 900 schools, rose by 11% nationwide through March 1. But the number of applicants increased by just 2.4%, meaning nearly the same number of students are casting a wider net. Not sure the waitlist to admission rate will be as dark as you thinkā€¦

Schools are projected to use their waitlists a lot this year because the same students have applied to so many schools but can only enroll at one. I think waitlist activity will be higher than in traditional years and schools are using them to manage yield. How good the chances are, nobody can say exactly since we donā€™t know where kids will choose to enroll. The acceptance rate went down mostly because Georgetown, like many of their peers. received a substantial increase in applications. Good luck!

Agreed. Any specific thoughts on waitlist School of Nursing & Health/Human Science at Gtown?

In the Georgetown waitlist letter they give the stats for getting off waitlist for the last few years. I was speaking to a question about whether this year would be as high as last year which was 20%. A big jump from 6% in 2019 and 0% in 2018. But I hope you are right!

Here are the stats they provided for getting off waitlist for the college:

2020:20% 2019:6% 2018:0% 2017:4% 1016:7% 2015:14% 2014:12%

Yes, youā€™re right, definitely deferral-related. School of Nursing admitted 27% from waitlist last year which is unusually high. But like OceanIsle said above, students are applying to more schools than in those years past (casting wider nets), yet they can only enroll in one.

Thanks, Iā€™m just hoping that waitlists are at least better than usual, although last yearā€™s waitlist rates were pretty good, otherwise Iā€™ll probably be going to one of my safties.

I was thinking the same thing. The acceptance letter mentioned it would be available today. I havenā€™t seen anything either.

I think itā€™s very funny their first admitted students event happens to be the exact minute ivy decisions come out.
