Georgetown Class of 2025 Regular Decision

Hi I know this is extremely early but Georgetown is my dream school. I also have a ton of free time now that my summer plans have been cancelled. So HS c/o 2021 and people taking gap years feel free to post anything gtown related. If anyone is as anxious as me, PM me and we can be anxious together.

My kid is on his 7th revision of his college specific essay. I may have to hit him with a tranquilizer gun soon. He is also freaking out about his test scores and if the SAT will get offered.

Good luck to all of you!

I’m super anxious, too. I’m somewhere in the top 15%-20% of my class, with an SAT score of 1320, and a 30 on a practice ACT (but no real score yet since April AND June were cancelled). I’m proud of myself and my accomplishments, but with a <20% acceptance rate, I honestly don’t feel like I’m good enough. I could have honor society presidentship on my resume, 5 AP classes a year, and a 4-5 on each exam, but I don’t have any of that. But Georgetown is my dream school, and I just want to do my best.
I was going to PM you, but I’m not sure how. I’d love to have someone to talk to about it

I just started outlining my essays and figuring out what teachers to ask for recommendations

@acatwithadhd I have a similar score and am totally feeling the same way. Georgetown is my dream school as well!

Since Georgetown has its completely own separate application of course, does anyone know if you can edit the initial application portal once you submit it. Due to my school, there is some information I don’t have access to yet, but I want to move forward with the app process. Any info would help!!!

@ihopecollege

You can edit up until the final submission. My kid turned his in last night and we were able to look at every piece of the application again before doing so.

Thank you! To be sure, you are talking about the Georgetown Application that is the one 15 minute basic information form. I thought we had to submit a change request form through the website to edit information after submitting. Are you saying you can actively edit the initial form after turning it in?

The supplemental had that information on it. I would say if you messed up the social or something, that probably would need to be addressed by admissions.

Okay I think I understand what you are saying… I haven’t submitted the initial one yet anyway but thank you for the help!!!

Would you recommend Georgetown for undergrad or grad? I honestly love the school and tbh it’s my fav but it’s super far from home for me and I’ve heard that it’s a great place for grad school. So I’ve been considering waiting to apply until 2025 but I’m not sure

Just submitted the initial application! I’ll be applying to the SFS  Georgetown’s been my dream since middle school. I’m a 1st gen American so I’m very much on my own for this entire process. I’m really stressed, not only because of my slightly unusual stats but also because my parents don’t really understand most of the process. Feel free to message me if you just wanna talk about all this!!

@xmasberry Current Gtown student here – what school are you looking at? SFS? Georgetown has one of the best graduate IR and public policy programs, but the intro courses for SFS grad is actually remarkably similar to the undergrad curriculum, hence why most SFS undergrads don’t go to grad school at Georgetown, because a lot of the topics covered will be at least a little bit repetitive.

Hey, I am interested in applying to Georgetown in the fall. I know the admissions officers stress there is no advantage applying early action vs regular decision, but are there maybe any benefits besides having the possibility to be considered twice in the admissions process? Could it hurt to apply early action since early action tends to have more competitive applicants at some schools? Just curious and stressed.

@masquerade98 , I’m looking at the Gtown College for undergrad and possibly take course work in SFS. For grad tho i’d Apply to the law school

@anniee1219 Georgetown EA is traditionally more competitive than their RD. Last year’s EA was 11.78%, versus 15% for RD admissions. Each school has a slightly different rate, but all of them follow this same pattern. Since they don’t reject during EA, it can’t hurt your chances, but you might want to consider that if you want to ED/EA somewhere else, often times it’ll be binding.

@xmasberry If you’re thinking about law school then there’s not really a good way of comparing grad and undergrad bc law school is going to be different than undergrad, pretty much no matter what. So you can do Gtown undergrad and still go to Gtown law, but there are enough complicating factors that I wouldn’t worry too much about it for now.

@masquerade98 thank you for your input!

Georgetown is also my dream school, I’m applying to NHS !!!
Currently trying to fill out the application.
Anyone know how to fill out the special talent section?! How is the section different from the activity/ award section? Are we supposed to go create for that section?
Thank you
