Anyone else’s child get waitlisted at Georgetown? So frustrating bec he has to commit elsewhere May 1 but they won’t release until may 15…
yes. my S did. With all this craziness going on right now, the last thing I was looking for was more uncertainty. Yikes.
Not sure what we will do yet. Likely commit to another school and if he gets selected, lose our deposit. Does your child have another school that they really like?
I guess we will do the same. We were supposed to tour Georgetown March 23. ;(. We live in Florida so he will go to UF. He plans on committing May 1 but if he got into Georgetown he would pick that over UF . It is a better school. UF makes way more sense financially but we know the opportunity in DC would be incredible. I wish they would choose the waitlisted kids prior to may 1. Such a frustrating process. What about your son?
Makes sense that they cannot tell us until they see how many commit on 5/1 but still makes things challenging. UF is a great school too! We are not sure which way to go now. Maybe Chapel Hill.

No I think Georgetown is holding true to the May 15 date…UGHHHH
No word. But other schools of same caliber are offering spots off their waitlist now.
I’ve heard that as well. And who knows what’s going to happen in the fall. This whole situation is terrible for these kids:(
I just got an email from Georgetown admissions asking to confirm again my spot on the waitlist. Did this email go out to all applicants who are on the waitlist?
Yes my son got it too I’m sure they are seeing if kids are backing out now bec of personal circumstances changing.

I wonder if circumstances due to the coronavirus will lead to more people getting off the waitlist. Since many people are deciding to stay closer to home because of everything.

My kid got the email yesterday as well. She confirmed her spot. Waitlisted at so many places…paid deposit to a top 15 SLAC with merit but twin got in off WL already at a top school. We are waiting on Pomona, Cornell, Emory, and Georgetown. Long wait.

We got the email. Georgetown is my daughter’s dream school and she is hoping for a yes. But may I ask at this point to be on waitlist, if she is accepted, Any chance that we will get any scholarship ? We are not need-based but I certainly cannot afford any tuition without any scholarship offered. Trying to understand the situation to prepare my daughter. She has got scholarship at another good college.

I think my husband did. And we are not qualified much at all. Just only we do not have lots of cash flows each month. So we need some scholarship. As a mom, it will be so hard for me for me to tell my daughter that we cannot pay for her dream school. I have a feeling that at this point no scholarship available anymore. Am I wrong ?
