Georgetown College vs School of Foreign Service

Hi everybody. Hopefully this in the right section.
I’m a rising senior who’s top college choice is Georgetown. However, I don’t know which college to apply to. My interest lie in politics and international affairs, so I think I would choose poli sci/gov or international relations. My dream is to end up working on politics, either on campaign or in the governmental side of politics.
At other schools I’m interested in, poli sci and IR are in the same college, so I don’t have to worry about which college to apply to. This is not the case at Georgetown. I’m stuck between applying to the College and studying Government or applying to the SFS and studying International Politics.
I feel like studying Gov would be more related to working in politics, but have less application in other fields. On the other hand, I sometimes think the SFS degree would have a wider real-world application but less focus on politics.
I also have some interest in going to law school later on.
So, my question is: Which school should I apply to?
Any comments or information would be helpful. Thank you!

I know Georgetown is a very selective school, so I’m more likely to be rejected than get in, so this is all a big what-if. But it’s an important what if.

Here are some stats if that helps:
ACT: 34
SAT II: Physics-730, US History-790, Lit-taking in a couple months
Grades: All A or A+
AP: I’ll take 14 exams and 12 AP classes, which is almost all of them, by the time I graduate. All 4s and 5s so far.
National Silver medalist for the National French Exam
I worked on a state rep campaign last summer. I’m currently an intern for that state rep and working on a different state rep campaign this year.
MUN, Academic Challenge Team, Science Olympiad, Mathletes, National Honor Society

Sorry for the formatting. That’s not how it was supposed to come out.

Why not email your Georgetown admissions person?

That is a good idea. Thank you

Actually, this is the PERFECT reason to contact a Georgetown admissions rep–both to get your question answered as well as to “show interest” in a meaningful way.

Class of 2021 SFS student planning on majoring in International Politics here. The reason I chose SFS instead of the college is because SFS offers a much more in-depth exploration of International Relations. In a way, SFS seems like a pre-professional school to me. It’s similar to pre-law or pre-med in that it seems to prepare you quite well for a career in government, politics, or economics. Since you’ve said you’re interested in law school eventually, I would suggest SFS, since International Politics gives you subfields into international law, foreign policy, or security.

Thank you!
