Just got my letter, ACCEPTED AHHHHH I CANT BELIEVE IT.
I’m from the albany, NY area
Acceptance letter feels thick, has multiple papers including green one.

Wasn’t expecting it, but still nothing in California. Monday it is…

Nothing here in SC… anyone else from SC applied or heard anything?

@seniori15 I got mine and I’m western suburbs of Chicago

@bulldog19 I’m from NC and got mine today, so you probably just missed it sorry.

Do they post acceptances/deferrals when you login to your account?

Just checked. That’s a negative.

What account?

@Sachem797
Probably the account you used to apply to Georgetown (applyweb), but it doesn’t work anyway.

Thanks @laika7. I was worried I completely overlooked a Gtown portal or something like that.

Daughter accepted in Texas!

For those of you worrying I was deferred last year and accepted Regular. My grades were average but I stepped up my game and got all A’s the first semester. Talking to the admissions counselor this year, she told me the reason I got in was because of the upward trend in my grades. Sometimes they just defer you to see what your grades will be the first semester. And to add one more point, I sent in a letter acknowledging my interest in the school.

.

@go4fan56 what part of Texas?? And congratulations!!

I’m international so the EA decision came by email. I’m still undecided because in Europe Georgetown isn’t that well known and it also has a reputation for being conservative (by European standards). I don’t know. I lived in Washington, DC for three years when my father was posted there and it was nice, but small. I’m just worried whether it will be diverse. Or will I spend my days being taught how evil Cuba is and how socialism is the same as communism. I’d love to hear from international students there.

@excanuck99 I’m not international, but I’ve lived in Sweden and would say I’m very liberal (by US standards). Like nearly all universities, Georgetown is definitely left-leaning. It is not as liberal, as, say Columbia, but it’s still pretty liberal. Are you worried about its religious affiliation? Because Georgetown is considered one of the most secular of the religiously-affiliated universities. When I visited, my tour guide was very excited to talk about his efforts in the LGBT organization they have on campus. Obviously, if you’re coming to the US from western Europe, especially Scandinavia, you’ll notice more conservatism, but it’s not overwhelming. As for diversity, again, with most universities, you’ll notice that the majority of students are white, with a pretty substantial Asian population as well. However, in recent years, colleges have really been dedicated to bumping up their diversity. Georgetown definitely could be more diverse, but there are definitely universities with less diversity. To sum it up, Georgetown isn’t nearly conservative or homogenous enough to justify completely ignoring an acceptance. Besides, isn’t the point of studying abroad to be out of your comfort zone, anyway?

I agree with the above poster, Georgetown is not conservative by any stretch of the imagination (though conservatives certainly have a large and vocal presence as well).

I would say that the extent to which Georgetown’s religious affiliation is relevant on campus is mostly relegated to the 6 credit theology requirement (which does not have to be Catholic theology). Other than that, a few groups (primarily H*yas for Choice), get in some occasional free speech spats with the administration, but that’s about it.

So this decision is gonna come tomorrow for everyone who hasn’t gotten it right?

I think so @Sachem797 …I’m still waiting for mine in Chicago

I’m pretty sure almost everyone will know tomorrow. I’m still waiting for mine in NJ
