Georgetown EA Deferred Students Class of 2022: Next Steps.

Thought I’d start a thread for those deferred who have questions about next steps. The deferral letter said no further application is necessary for Regular Decision consideration. Then it follows with a line about the option to choose to submit first semester grades, senior testing, and any additional information can be submitted to be added to one’s file. When logging into the portal, it appears all sections can be edited for January submission. This may be a question for the admin, but wondering if anyone knows whether the application can be completely changed/edited in terms of essays, talents, or even change to a different major than the one selected in the EA round? Not saying that is something one should consider, maybe just worth knowing what options there might be. Alternatively, do they just want a letter that one sends to the university to express continued interest and updates, or perhaps both?

I am going to completely edit my application including awards and essays. I don’t know why the portal would give us the option if they would not be accepting our new application. I believe in the past others have done the same. Not completely positive, but really want to take the opportunity to update my app. Very disappointed :frowning:

@samseager5,
Makes sense. Somebody on the Class of 2022 EA Applicants thread said Admin will take a fresh look at the application so it would seem logical that one could make corrections, tweak the essays, even do a completely new one if one wanted. Might even be able to change schools one wants to be in, although not interested in that! Will try to get clarification this week from Admin. Agree it’s disappointing to be deferred, but there’s still hope!

Does anyone know if there’s time to re-take subjects tests? I want to try and improve my scores but I’m worried it’s too late.

Can you edit your essays? I only have the first page available to edit (resume, awards). Not the essays?
@samseager5

@oranqejvice,
I am pretty sure the next subject tests date is in May 2018, but if anyone heard anything to the contrary, maybe they will post it here.

@Rubix1,
I believe original essays from the EA application cannot be edited.

@Rubix1 @Nomorelurker My application allows me to update my essays. Maybe we should call to confirm?

Guys @samseager5 @Nomorelurker do I edit the application by filing a new version of the freshman application part 2?

Like “apply again”?

@samseager5 and @Rubix1
I heard from a parent who called that the EA application should be locked and there is no editing of essays. You can send in additional letters of rec, developments, new leadership or other activities, express more about your ongoing interest in GU… but I would not risk changing essays or altering original application. Feel free to call Admin and confirm.

Wait so we don’t have to edit anything, right? I’m afraid to touch anything bc it might affect my current file…think I’ll just leave what I have and just send mid year grades. It is what it is I guess

Who would we submit new updates to and a LOCI?

@4101297
I believe you send updated letter of continued interest to: applicationmaterials@georgetown.edu
Be sure to put your full name and DOB or ID #
To be safe, you might want to double check and call them to confirm.

On the portal, I am given the option to fill out a separate application for regular decision. Has anyone done this or planned on doing this?

You should not be able to fill out a completely separate application. The admissions office has confirmed that it is a glitch.

For letters of continued interest, when is the right time to send them? I was going to work on them this week during break but I want to wait to send them until I get my semester grades back in mid-jan so I can confirm that they’ll improve my GPA, is there a “right” time to send a letter?

guys so i sent my LOCI to my counselor,(it was decently long just stating my new achievements and such) and she responded but all she said was “Thank you!” is this a bad sign??!

Do we have to send it to our counselor or can send it to the university?

How huge is the Georgetown RD applicant pool if no one is denied during EA, then the RD applications arrive?
