@excanuck99 I am a URM US Citizen Living Abroad, and I was deferred by MSB. I am traveling so I dont know if I have gotten any calls. Do you think that US Citizens abroad are in demand?? I would hope so.

@SunFire102 what were your SAT scores?

What are the stats of the accepted students! My son was deferred with SAT of 2290 (one sitting)
NMSF, president NHS, student council x 4 yrs ,soccer many other ECs and volunteering
UWgpa 4.0 wGPA-4.2 ( out of 4.3) fluctuates between # 1 and 2 in a class of 300.
Sat subject tests 730 math2, 750 ushist, and 630 in lit

Also he is a white catholic male with no hooks!!!
Do you think he has a chance RD?
Congrats to all excepted EA!!!

@pasoccermom what school is he applying into? Do his extra curriculars and essays show his interest in his major? I was accepted EA and while my scores are not as high as his, I articulated my interested in foreign service through my essay, interview, and extra curriculas

@seoulbound he applied to the college as pre med? / bio major. I was thinking his 3 in AP chem may have been a factor but he received a 100 in the class that he self taught! He had a horrible teacher!!!so was very un prepared for the test!!
We are hoping for RD! He did express great interest in his major but had some humor in his short answer questions that may not have been understood! I thought his answers were hilarious! But I am his mom!! Lol

@pasoccermom Did he self report the scores somewhere on his application? They shouldn’t know unless he told them. College was the most selective out of the EA round. Since his app is pretty much locked in, I can suggest submitting a letter of interest, if he’s really interested in gtown. That and making sure his grades are fine first semester. I actually think humor is fine, and for the special skills section, the whole thing was very funny… Totally forgot I did that until yesterday… I don’t know if you can send updates of essays or anything like that… But contacting admissions if you have any questions like that is fine. If he has any more test scores… Submit them… I wish him luck! His test stats are much better than mine! They purposefully accepted less people in EA to make room for a hopefully large, RD round.

@seoulbound thanks for ur kind words! No he didn’t self report! So that would be great if they didn’t know!

Your son’s stats and background are very similar to our S who is currently a senior at Georgetown. S was a co-val (4.0 - 4.45) in HS (suburban public HS class of 251; SAT 2150; ACT 34) and was admitted RD (didn’t apply EA). One of the biggest things to help your son is that he is #1 or #2 in his class. GU loves the top of the class. In S’s GU class of 2015, 49% of his entering class at GU were #1, #2, or #3 in their HS graduating classes according to the comments made in the convocation speech by University President DeGoia. Your son should continue to show interest by contacting his Adcom along with providing any other positive information. Based on what you said, your son should have a reasonably good chance for RD acceptance. Good luck to you and your son in this crazy search process.
quick question- does unweighted gpa include electives or just core classes on this site?
So D was deferred from georgetown and she needed a break to kind of clear her head about where to go next with this application (I felt the same way Now she’s determined to give RD a try…with a clear expectation that the odds are long.
Is there accepted advice on the best way to send an enthusiasm letter? She still has the same 4.0 that she had before…and the same high scores…and the same background…so all she can really do is write one heck of a “take another look” letter…
advice?
Well, this thread kinda died. Anyone have advice for SouthernHope?
Hey guys I created a group for accepted students. I saw the groups on facebook and they look really spammy! Also a million random posts from students applying. I thought this way we could start getting to know each other and wouldn’t have to worry about spam or school admins monitoring our convos… this is the link:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/GEORGETOWNCLASSOF2019/
I’m going to need help administering this group so if you’re interested just post a message on the wall!
Does anyone know if deferred students receive a letter telling them if they were rejected or accepted at the same time the RD applicants receive theirs?
I believe that is when deferred students find out as we were deferred to the regular applicant pool.
@maddi12 Do you know if Georgetown allows deferred students to modify and resubmit their application and essay for the regular decision round after being deferred. @musicgirlx17 as well!
@cmartin12 I don’t know but that’s an excellent question.
@musicgirlx17 Honestly, I did that. I just don’t know if admissions would consider it. I just emailed my amdco asking if that was okay and will it be considered because honestly, if RD applicants can have months to do their essay then I think deferred EA applicants would have the same chance and even playing field ya know?
Continued interest can’t hurt you. Our S is a senior at Georgetown and is currently applying to law schools. He got waitlisted at Duke so he took it upon himself to arrange for a visit and an admissions interview on campus. He was told at the end of the interview that he could hear back anytime from the next week to the first day in August before classes start. The interview must have gone well as he received an email from the Dean of Admissions at 630 PM on the day of his interview notifying him of his acceptance. Obviously, the numbers applying for undergraduate admissions are much higher than grad or law school but this does show that continued interest and student initiative can work and payoff in some cases. Good luck to all of you who are waiting on the RD decisions. I am sorry that you will have to wait until the end of March to receive your final decision.
Anyone going to the accepted students weekend next week?
