@2016senior2020 I helped call today. I can guarantee that nobody faked going through their list. Everyone who called was really excited to talk to admitted students. We also had to fill out evaluations after each student we called. I know it’s not the answer you were looking for, but I hope things go well for you in late March!
@JoeGoe thanks for your response. Oh, well.
@2016senior2020 no not yet
I got the letter! (only thing I have gotten this week, heh.)
I’m officially a Hoya!!
@JoeGoe what type of evaluation? o_O
Hey is there international applicants who haven’t yet received the email stuff?
@azhang40 @Gabrialias The fact that you guys haven’t received calls is literally the only thing keeping me from completely breaking down rn. Still very pessimistic about my chances but there is a glimmer of hope!!!
@2016senior2020 I wish Georgetown had been considerate enough to make sure that all the letters in all parts of the country had been delivered before they announced that calls were made to all admitted students. When students spend hours and hours on an application and don’t get in, it would only be respectful to tell them officially first that they weren’t admitted and not just let them find out by default-- by just not getting a call. I know it’s not your decision, but maybe you can pass that along. It was unintentional-- but felt mean.
Me!!! I haven’t received any email yet:(((
@DartDart I agree 100 percent. Really, I think they should just join this century and give decisions electronically. If they want to stick to the tradition of sending letters, though, it would be nice to hear about being deferred from them, not by using College Confidential and Facebook to connect a few dots. Georgetown is still my dream school and I will almost certainly go if I get in RD, but this is my single least favorite thing about the school.
I personally loved the fact that they sent it via snail mail. Even if you don’t get the letter you’re hoping for, you have to admit that it is really exciting, and much more so than just clicking a button…
@fhgirl16 I understand where your coming from but the anticipation absolutely killed me! Not to mention that it made studying for finals that much harder…
Got into school of SFS today!! – hopefully going to major in STIA Also was invited to be a part of the Community Scholars Program :DDD
Wow, I was so thrown off by being deferred that I typed your instead of you’re. Tonight was a rough night…
Were calls made to home or cell phones?
@AliSabina yup… haven’t gotten anything yet
I GOT IN!!! I called admissions, they’re telling decisions over the phone today. There must have been a mistake with the call lists but I don’t care. So excited!!!
@2016senior2020 !!! CONGRATS!!!
@DartDart I wish Georgetown had been considerate enough to make sure that all the letters in all parts of the country had been delivered before they announced that calls were made to all admitted students. Unfortunately, Georgetown does not control the workings of the United States Postal Service, and delivery confirmation on that many thousands of pieces of mail would be cost-prohibitive. So there’s really no way to “make sure that all the letters in all parts of the country had been delivered.” Beyond that, the calls are being made by GAAP students. Exams started Monday. If you wait even a couple of days from the 15th, much less the week or more you would need for letters to reach Hawaii or Alaska or other remote areas, you’ll have many students who have completed their exams and already left home, leaving you without enough students to make all those calls.
The calls are a nice touch (I think, anyway), but there’s always going to be missed connections, misdials, and the like, so one shouldn’t use the lack of a phone call as being proof of a lack of admission.
Mailed made it to North Dallas today, finally. Son Deferred. The dream and the wait continues…
