@1college123 Yea two people have posted that they heard back from McDonough so far but I haven’t either @runnergal11 so it’s okay let’s not lose hope.
@Gonzalo0927 thanks! I hope so because it seems really pricey. Do you know if they have a no loan policy? I know schools like Cornell have them and was wondering if Georgetown did something similar. but I can’t find anything on it except that they have “bad” aid according to other students.
are you definitely attending?
@victoria12 they have a pretty robust aid package if you actually need it. Something about cura personalis
@victoria12 I’ve called the financial aid office and they told me they meet 100% of need. I also have a couple friends up there who are middle class and they’ve barely had to pay anything. I’m pretty sure they have a no loans policy. And yes I am 100% going there!
I think there about three other veterans in this transfer thread?
What school did you other veterans apply to? I applied to the college
@Robinyoursoul I’m a Marine, I applied to MSB. The third Marine (@kp83) is an SFS applicant, iirc. Also, there was one Army type (@mycatsnameispups) who i think applied to the college
@Collegestuff202 here’s to hoping we all get in - I’ve heard a lot of good things about GU’s willingness to help veterans, especially the post 9/11 type. The contact I know at the GU VA office has been really helpful with my application and informing me about the WSP program; he’s also a former Army cat.
I am curious as to whether or not all veterans applying are looked at by the same admissions committee team or if we are placed at random throughout. The contact I have at the VA office wasn’t accepted until late May when he applied
SFS not the College
I know @Robinyoursoul And I are both Infantry guys, what did you two do in the marines
Omg! Thank you so much for your replies, guys. Now I can start worrying less, lol! I was worried I couldn’t not attend ; - ;
Maybe see you all at orientation!
I believe @kp83 is also an infantry guy
My bad @Mycatsnameispups
I’m a sigint guy and get out in June. Have you guys signed up for the GUSVA newsletter ‘The Scuttlebutt’ yet? It’s pretty good. I subscribed just to see what was going on at GU.
@Collegestuff202 Actually I did a while back, the scuttlebutt has some pretty good stuff and info sent out all the time.
@collegestuff202. I haven’t, the only thing I follow
Is their GUSVA Facebook page - will have to follow their newsletter.
I’m guessing a quiet Friday for admissions?
@Mycatsnameispups @Robinyoursoul yeah I was an infantry guy as well. Not often you have more than two infantry guys so this is great.
i still didn’t hear yet
@kp83 yeah, man. It’s good to see other veterans, especially the infantry type, applying to places like Georgetown. Here’s to hoping we all succeed. For the veterans that are applying, are you guys planning on living on campus if accepted or living in the Virginia/DC area? The BAH is very appreciable
So when is the latest we can expect to hear by for acceptances?
I plan on living off campus… I really think buying a house is the best way to go. I have two dogs, and a bunch of home gym stuff… Definitely stoked on the BAH amount. I’m in SD right now, and its also real nice out here, but I have no idea what I’m doing to do for summer (money wise). I need that acceptance, so I can actually make a plan!! Hahah
gonzalo Did you apply way before the deadline?
@GeorgetownSFS007 @Robinyoursoul
I’m actually worried about the BAH in DC I’m pretty sure it’s really expensive out there and I live in San Francisco area so my BAH will actually be cut in half from going to DC. How expensive is it for a apartment around Georgetown?
for the summer, yeah man it’s going to be tight but I found a construction labor job that pays i’ll be doing that to pay rent over the summer instead of LYFT driving 14hrs a day like last summer. I’m still set up to take summer and fall courses just in case then a UC Berkeley summer program also.
