@Mycatsnameispups around the Georgetown area can get pretty pricey, man. A lot of people just get roommates; which, we are no strangers to having to live with roommates. I live in Alexandria, VA (about fifteen minutes from GU) and the apartment prices really aren’t that bad as long as you’re reasonable with the funds.
Arlington area is in the NoVa area as well, but can be pricey in certain areas.
That’s what I figured, my mom actually moved from California to Manassas about 5 years ago so I know that place is not to far away and cheap but Arlington I will definitely check out if I get accepted since I’m pretty over commuting an HR or more everyday for school.
@collegefred23 Email, however everyone should be checking their spam folders as well. My decision got sent into gmails “promotional” subcategory so I never got a notification for the email until I opened the app on my phone!
My cats name is pup… That’s an absolutely hysterical name… Anyways! Yea, I’ll probably go into a little loan debt, and work some side job until everything starts. I have considered private contracting stuff ( ISR; aerial type), which pays nice…-but, I don’t want to be out in the field for multiple months when I could be getting things moving (literally moving) from CA to Gtown. If I don’t get accepted I’m going to just push into mass amounts of debt and self fund a trip to Jordan or Morocco and continue to study the Arabic language, immersion style! I’ve obviously dedicated little thought into the latter situation, because of my confidence in admission!
@Robinyoursoul@Mycatsnameispups I would probably just get a place around the area. I think the BAH will be about the same as I get right now living in LA
@GeorgetownSFS007 are/were you a 2671? Wonder whether we know each other…
My wife and I just signed a lease for a place up near Bethesda. Can confirm that the whole area is pricy. Post 9/11 BAH for GU should be 2262 this year, though, so that’s nice.
Anyone have any idea admitted students day will be or when we will find out? I tried facebook messaging Georgetown’s Transfer Student Association but no reply. Thanks!
@sallyfields10 That’s what I don’t really understand. I was under the assumption that if we haven’t gotten an email yet, we’ve been rejected. However, maybe they admit students requiring financial aid earlier (that could be one of like 15 different variables that merit an early response)? I’m not sure, but I’m in a similar position.
for the people who have gotten accepted so far, did they send you a link in the email to see your decision? if so, would you guys mind sharing the link? or did the email simply say you were accepted?
@phillysteak they send an email titled Georgetown Transfer Decision and once you open it it’s like a 9 page email with the first section being the acceptance letter. There’s no link it’s all in the email. Again, we’re still early on in May decisions will be rolling out the whole month. I will say though in the email they said there was approximately 190 spots open for transfer students, if anyone hasn’t heard back yet I wouldn’t put the nail in the coffin but I would also start looking for other options. That’s what I was planning.
@judurak I think @Collegestuff202 is right. Georgetown wasn’t super transparent about the whole decisions process. I don’t even think they gave us an actual decision deadline, but I suppose there’s no point in worrying about it if it’s rolling.
@Gonzalo0927 190 spots?! Wow. That is much better than expected considering The Hoya released an article earlier this year saying that there were to be approximately 140-150 spots available for transfer applicants.
I have family over for vacation this week and next week, and being that I live a few minutes away from GU, we’ve spent some time in Georgetown. Every time we pass the bridge with the school in view I’m floored at how awesome the campus looks; especially compared to the GWU feel.
