Georgetown Financial Aid?

Hello all, I was recently accepted EA and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with GU FA and could give me an idea of what to expect. My EFC according to FAFSA is about 16k, and my family income is between 100k-125k. How much financial aid should I expect from Georgetown?

@rvamd34 , this is tough. I don’t know about Georgetown specifically, but I am a Mom and we also have demonstrated need. Georgetown guarantees to meet demonstrated need, correct? (My D is an RD applicant.) They will consider the CSS profile as well as the FAFSA for your figures. They may also have their own institutional way to do their figures. So don’t be shocked if they ask you to pay more than 16k. I would definitely add on $5,500 to the $16,0000 for your federal Stafford Loan which all students are allowed to take in their own name. Then add on $3,000 for work study. They will subtract that from their costs, but that’s not how work study really plays out. You would have a nice job on campus and will be paid a pay check in your name every 2 weeks. so, it’s good to have for your expenses and spending money, but you won’t have it ahead of time. but, they will present it like it’s coming off of your bill any way. all schools do. So that takes you into the mid 20’s. I’d say if Georgetown comes down to $26,000 per year based on this thought process, that would be an example of them “meeting your need”. I know it’s not really doing that, but this is how I play things out for our family with our own figures.

Merit scholarships are so helpful. Pay attention to your net cost when comparing schools. room and board plus tuition minus scholarships and see what the figures are. travel and books are different expenses. Good luck.
