Georgetown or Rice??

I'm deciding bt 2 schools: Rice and Georgetown (Col)... I'm sort of leaning towards Georgetown bc the workload is lighter and bc I might want to transfer to the SFS later... I'm just throwing this question out there: I want to be involved in the pharmaceutical markets in China later on... so what major should I do in the SFS? Or should I even go into the SFS?

workload is ligher than RICE? is that true?

no the workload is lighter at Georgetown

out of curiousity, how do you know that?

bc i've talked to students from both schools

Depends what your major is. Rice is largely a science school, Georgetown is not. I would expect the science/engineering workload at Rice to be steeper than at Georgetown.

I would have to disagree with dzleprechaun's previous comment. I was accepted to Rice and I'm currently on the waitlist at Georgetown SFS. When I went down to visit Rice, I was surprised by the fact that the most popular majors there were Political Science and Economics. Although Rice has a reputation for stellar Science/Math, their Social Sciences programs are equally excellent. With small class sizes (I've heard an average of 7 students per class!), Rice could be an excellent choice for you.

I didn't say anything about Rice's poly sci or econ. In any case, "the most popular majors" doesn't really correlate with what the strongest programs are. Like you said, Rice has a reputation for stellar Science/Math, Georgetown does not, and therefore it wouldn't be surprising to me if Rice's science workload was steeper than Georgetown's. If you want to compare SFS to Rice poly sci, that's a different question entirely.
