I am stuck in the position between choosing Gtown or villanova to do pre-medical studies in which I will probably major in a non-science.

Here is my issue:
Both schools do not seem to have highly regarded pre-med studies...i.e they don't really compete with Duke, penn, Cornell, Vandy, JHU and several others.
On both websites for pre-med, Nova and Gtown are notorious for providing very little information about their medical school success rates.
-I have yet to find what percentage of students who apply from both schools get into med school.
-Both schools provide a list of med schools where at least one student was accepted. (I dont recall all the schools, but the list is not too impressive.)

In terms of social life I find the student bodies at both schools to be very similar, with the exception being nova has frats and gtown doesnt. The location doesnt matter to me.

For pre-med, which school is better and if Gtown is, is it worth ten grand a year better?

no im not trolling…I know that gtown is considered superior to Villanova overall…but is gtown premed the better route when nova comes out ten grand cheaper? Also, is gtown premed worth the hassle of transferring from nova for?

If you are interested in any graduate or professional school, including medicine, a Georgetown undergradiate degree carries far more weight than one from Villanova. My premed cohort at Georgetown was admitted to the top medical schools in the country, and I can tell you that there is not a single Villanova student that I am aware of at Hopkins med. where I am. I do not know one person from my premed group at Georgetown who was not admitted to at least one M.D. program. More importantly, the Georgetown undergraduate experience is far more rich intellectually, socially, culturally–that, along with the professional school placement, is where the real value of Georgetown over Villanova comes in.

^Thanks medman…its sounds like you definitely excelled out of georgetown…Are you at JHU with alot of Georgetown grads?
My friend is currently at Columbia med, she graduated from a lower tier catholic college, and does not know any other students in her class who attended a catholic school. Almost everyone she knows attended an Ivy, MIT, Chicago, Duke or Stanford for undergrad…I guess my main concern then is that if I am not attending one of the aforementioned colleges then I am not too sure if Gtown would really be able to place me in a top five med school. I am sure gtown does get students in to top five med schools, but their website definitely seems sparse when it comes down to naming a few…Lastly, does Gtown have grade inflation or deflation? I read somewhere the avg GPA is 3.5 which seems a little high, however that would be a boon for a premed student who cannot really fall below a 3.8 and still get into a good med school.
