RD Hopeful Hoyas, How Are You Doing?

Hey all you Regular Decision Hopeful Hoyas. I'm just wondering how all of you are faring on your applications. The deadline is coming up fast (January 10th)!

So what is your (or your application's) status? Any problems? We can help! Us EA'ers have been through this already. Don't hesitate to ask! Post away! :p

Along with my other post how much of an importance is the interview? Also how much of an importance is standardized testing?

I forgot this, but how do you convey the admissions that Gtown is your first choice without sounding to blatant or overboard?

I don't think that the interview is very important- it is also a factor that can only help you, not hurt you (unless you are extremey rude or annyoing or completely botch the interview). Standardized testing is somewhat important, though it's not defining factor. You can make up for low test scores with other factors (like GPA, ECs, etc.). However, I don't think that you can make up for GPA, ECs with high test scores (so don't rely on them).

I never really conveyed that Georgetown was my first choice, but I know that some people made cover letters for their applications explaining that Georgetown was their first choice. You could also subtly work it into your 2nd essay (the one about your interest/why Georgetown) somehow. Good luck! :)

aaaaanndd.... bump.

i guess they're doing fine, calidan. :)

lol aww calidan, that's so sweet.
I just mailed out my app today, which concludes my app process! I'll be sure to ask you advice when I get contacted for my interview =)

And I will be sure to give you advice! Good luck, Zante! (Though you really don't need it! :D)

yeah, im done with my app...sent it out early november, done with interview...now just nervous as hell...anything i can do to boost chances? letters to georgetown, or anything like that?

send ur regional admissions officer flowers, chocolate, massage coupons, the works.

haha, im jk. nope sounds like ull just have to trust urself and hope for the best! Good luck!

ahhh i just realized i forgot to enclose the check in the app package! doh so i guess i'll send it separately...that'll be ok right?

Yah- that should be fine. Maybe fax them to alert them that it is forthcoming. :)

I just sent out the check a day later than my app, so I think it'll be ok. I just hope they don't open the app, see no check and throw it out! Next day, they'll see the check and be like..."hmm...thanks...too bad you're not an applicant but I'll take the money anyway..."

I saw my friend who goes to Gtown today and she's loving it there. Says the city/town is great and she has trouble saving money because there are so many places to shop in georgetown. They do have all the best stores!

They sure do! And Zante- the check might arrive before the application, since I'm assuming that it was in a regular business-sized enevlope while the application was in the larger kind? So unless you sent the app. priority, the check might, in fact, arrive before your application. :)

oh cool! Yes that was the case. They were both sent regular mail but the check was indeed in a regular envelope while the app was in a 9x12.

Well that's good, then. Problem solved. They will proably definitely get your money before your app.

probably definitely? trying to cover all your bases?

Well yeah... LOL- I thought that would be confusing when I typed it, too :p. I don't like making promises that I'm not sure I can keep.

lol, so you're not going to be a politician huh?

app is going out tomm!

I dunno- I was thinking about it, but then decided that it would be too strenuous. And I'm not great at public speaking.
