The specialization and opportunities at GU are amazing, I know. But the atmosphere and city are making me hesitate. I know, I know, education comes before social life. But if you're going to spend at least 4 years in the same place and you're going to get a mind-blowing education in both institutions, which do you choose?
New York..well it's New York. Preps freak me out - and apparently D.C. is crawling with them. And the NYU GSP sends me off for freshman year to Florence, Italy..not too far from my French home. But the academics don't measure up to GU - or do they? Which do you think would be a better experience.

The choice is even harder considering I recently found out that money isn't a problem for the time being. Both prices are attainable.

Any suggestions would help!

If you're going into politics, SFS is equivalent to a golden ticket.

Georgetown SFS - too big a gap between these. Plus, there are plenty on non-preppy places in DC. AND you'll have a real college experience.

That's reassuring...and the answer I was expecting - just needed a confirmation. What kind of social atmosphere is there at GU though? What is there to do in DC? I checked out some tourist websites, but most of their browsers were down. I really can't afford to visit...can anyone give me an insider's idea of what it's like to be there? A hint? I know it's asking a lot..

It really looks as though you care a LOT more about location. If that's what's making you frustrated... then I would choose NYU. GU has a high crime rate, and it does not have as many "big city" opportunities as new york does (unless of course you are a working politician). Both schools are really good, and maybe GU does have a slight upperhand on academics, but if you are worried about location then I would choose NY. If it was all about the school then you wouldnt have hesitated. Just a friendly opinion. I might be wrong.

Don't worry though, I am also about location and I am giving up a full ride to Boston University to go to NYU gsp.

yeah, if you are going into politics I think you really can't beat g-town and the opportunities of DC. HOYAS!!
