Do transfers use charms? I thought we would, especially the sophomore transfers because we are required to live on campus. But after filling out the preferences, I tried to start charms and it told me that transfers are placed into housing by the university where available.

Glad someone started this post, I'm curious to know also, except I'm a junior transfer, so at least you'll have some sort of housing heh. I didn't even get my netid so I had to send housing an email, hopefully they'll put me in.

Sophmore housing is decent so don't worry about it. Also be really nice to the housing staff. You want to be on their good side. Don't demand-ask politely and unassumingly. Most of the upper-class housing has groups going in together. You may want only one roomie until you meet people. You have to eat in the dining hall anyway as a sophmore, even if you have a kitchen with your housing. The housing prices are competitive with off-campus rentals, so people still choose to rent in the area. Make nice with the housing staff. You'll be glad you did. Good luck and congrats! Where did y'all go before Georgetown?

Transfers are usually placed either in the Southwest Quad or in Village B. The former dorms are new built in 2003 and in it one can acquire either a single, double, or triple room. All rooms are quite large. Village B comprises apartments that, I think, are allocated to groups of five.

I did not use Charms when I transferred last year. I would not worry about the housing situation. I have yet to meet a single transfer who was dissatisfied with his or her housing situation.

Yeah, same exact thing happened to me (i'll also be a sophmore) so it seems that we can't use CHARMS, and instead are just assigned based on our preferences.
