Georgetown Transfer Questions

LAC = Liberal Arts College :)

Ahahahahah i get it now...

Hey i just found this thread and it seems really good for G-town transfer apps. I am a freshman and am applying to the college from American University. I wonder if someone could comment as to my chances.

H.S. GPA 3.6
College GPA 3.8
SAT 1340
I have pretty good ECs with some community service
Two really good internships here in Washington
good essays and Recs.
I had a an interview which went really well my interviewer transfered from American to G-Town her freshman year.
I also have a diverse background I am Half-Ecuadorian Half-American and I Lived in Ecuador, Houston and London.
This is my first time applying to Georgetown as well.

Thanks and good luck to everybody I am sure I am as anxious as everybody to recieve a letter.

UR Applying to the COLLEGE, u will have a good shot! Did ur interview go well?
WHy did u choose American University over GWU???

Does anyone think we will hear before June 1st?

I think we're all suppose to hear before June 1st

I'm thinking we'll hear sometime in the next 3 weeks or so

pinkdillo, in regards to the gw/gu problem I decided to place my deposit and just see what happens. Father agreed it was worth the risk...

i was waitlisted last year, but wasn't notified til june 1...ugh i really hope they let us know earlier this year, cus that wait was torturous lol. and then of course, they didnt end up accepting anyone from the waiting list because nearly all the initial acceptees took their offer of admission haha, cant blame them though. it's just that i was accepted to ucla last week, so the longer i wait for gtown's decision, the more i become attached to ucla, and the harder it's gonna be to choose should i get into gtown. americantransfer, i also attend american. you have a great shot! :)

I just found out that I am going to be offered admission to GWU, and my package will be mailed out May 9th. I am happy because this will give me more time to wait on GU's decision and to make a choice. Still have not heard anything from UMD CP yet though...

Also I was able to get my application complete after finding out that part of it was missing from the adcomm....

seychell, I wish I could just place the deposit! My finances are nowhere near the position they would need to be in if I was to also put down money at GWU. Also, even if they were, I STILL have not received any financial aid notification from GWU, which is ridiculous. I am supposed to hear through the grapevine about my Georgetown decision TOMORROW, if the adcomm has made a decision by then. I am really nervous.. I want to know so bad but then again I don't...

please let me know if the grapevine option works; I could still cancel the check given good news.

Is there anyone else who is a transfer applicant from Boston College?

ckdunton thanks good luck to you as well. what are you majoring in and what college are you applying to?

Hi PittTransfer,

I applied at GW a coupe days before their April 1st deadline.

Pinkdillo,

I'm in the same situation as you! Waiting on Financial Aid packet from GW and wondering about GU's decision.

I called Georgetown and told them about the GW deposit deadline of 9 May. They referred me to a woman who handles the SFS application packets except she's out of town until the 3rd of May! Hopefully when she gets back she'll check her e-mail and let me know how my application is faring. Also, they probably won't get my official transcripts until later this week anyway. They must have misfiled them and I had to send again.

I can't really afford to lose $800 dollars "just in case." I wish I could.... but maybe I'll have to put it on a credit card or something. Not cool....Do you think universities do this on purpose?

I also applied to JHU and when I called to ask what they would recommend they weren't very nice or helpful about it. They said to just pay the deposit and see what happens. Georgetown staff were much friendlier.

I was recently accepted to schools like Columbia and Stanford, but none of my top choices gave me enough financial aid. Unfortunately, I’m in a position where I think I need to attend a UC this year in order to save money. I wish I had applied to a broader range of private schools, and ones that would be more likely to offer aid.

Having said that, I am looking at transferring to Georgetown for my sophomore year of college (I will be starting my freshman year this fall).

What is McDonough?

And how good of a chance do I have getting into Georgetown with these stats?

H.S. GPA: 3.66 (unweighted), 4.1-4.2 (weighted)
SAT: V: 700, M: 640, W: 680 (1340/2020) – I’m planning on taking it again… should I?
SAT IIs: Lit: 680, math IC: 650, math IIc: 520, Biology: 500 (I know most of these are poor; I did not study or prepare at all)

I did 3 years of varsity and JV swimming, was school president for two years, did all of the honors clubs and whatnot, have great recommendations, officer positions, a lot of extracurriculars, and job internships, merit scholarships coming up…

I will be attending either UCSD or UCLA this year. How good are my chances?

You turned down Stanford! WOW!

Yes, and it was the most ridiculous and hardest decision I've ever made in my life.

I love/hate the school. I want to go there so badly... but their financial aid counselors said that my parents' annual income was "above the ceiling".

haha ur crazy...it's only for 2 years, who cares if you didn't get aid?? a degree from stanford is practically priceless.

oh, and americantransfer, i applied to the college as an econ major :) what major did u apply as?
